This music really was the climax of the first four years. I remember when I first heard the song, the Doctor had won his greatest victory since the Time War and the WHOLE WORLD was united, finally seeing him for what he was. It was like (at the time) the dead Time Lords were singing the Doctor's praises, a benediction for this ultimate victory over evil...him winning forgiveness and absolution of the past. Still brings me to tears.

Learning the words to this song made it so much more beautiful to me. It was already a thing of great hope and triumph, but learning exactly what they were saying brings me to tears every time I hear it now. They're not just calling one another to be better than their oppressors and not stoop to revenge and genocide; they're using a specific word -- 'humane' -- that also calls humanity to be better, too. Journey's End was such a fitting name for that episode. Because it really was the end of the journey for the 10th Doctor. This was the last time he'd be having an adventure with his usual companions like this. Everyone he'd met and known during his criminally short time as the Doctor went off to do their own things, and from then on it was just the Doctor, in the TARDIS, all alone, preparing for his end, an end he knew was coming but didn't want to accept.
