One of THE great albums of that 90s spell. I've played it hundreds of times over. - He holds her, he needs her - Is another beautiful track too.

I love this band. Such a big sound for a 3 piece. Death of Cool is an amazing album. Saw them play in a one room basement in Milwaukee. So loud and awesome.

This whole album is very good. Listening to these tracks I always imagined just gliding really fast over water. Something about the cymbals...

The whole album is fantastic and definitely deserves a place on your list. It's one of the few truly great albums from the original shoegaze era although I don't recall them really being considered as part of that whole scene at the time. I saw them live a couple of times in the 90s and was always amazed how a three piece band could produce such an incredible wall of sound. The follow up album The Death of Cool is also really good.

Good memories. I made the video for "Quick as Rainbows" - I guess it must have been 1990..

So lucky I got to see them live at the Roxy back in the 90's. They reproduced the sound live. A phenomenal band.

Great band. Love their wall of sound guitars and kickass drummer. I have their box set with remastered studio albums, demos, b sides and live. WELL worth it if you can find one. The rest of SFW album is solid. My favorite track is the opener, Railwayed.

The opener on that album is also great. I've never really appreciated Drive That Fast for some reason but upon further investigation it really is an ideal track

I am the happy and grateful owner of his 4 albums, each a delicious journey through exquisite instrumental textures plus a voice that elegantly complements all of the above. I always have them on my playlists, obligatory companions on my trips.

Was popular in the Detroit/Canada market early 90's. A popular sister song is "Girl of Colours" by "24 Gone." A definite slow dance arrow to put in your sling for your sweetheart.

Julian Swales and those sounds he makes. Made :( Works like a drug on me. The exact perfect frequency for my brain. Play KOD very loud on your stereo or loud on headphones for maximum effect.

This album is fabulous, and the follow-up The Death of Cool might, in my opinion, be their magnum opus, with 3 long, brooding songs that are jut beautiful in the way they unfold, yet with some beautiful poppy songs in between. A highlight on that album is probably Blue Pedal, a song named, I believe, for the Digitech Delay pedal that had come out and allowed a longer delay than most other pedals to that time, and had a hold function which was fairly new to the time as well. Julian Swales, the guitarist, can create such atmospheric tones, I love it. The vocalist/bassist Patrick Fitzgerald was openly gay and his lyrics on the Death of Cool were at times really reflective of experiences in that lifestyle, and I always found that to be quite inspirational and brave amongst such a lad culture as shoegaze/ indie rock was in the early 90s in the UK. Also, knowing that they were a power trio and performed as such was always a cool thing. I didn't see many concerts in that time period, so I never got to see them live, unfortunately. Always a regret.

Never heard their music before... I've heard of the name though. Shoegaze, The Cure, Cocteau Twins mixed in...

KoD were brilliant. Patrick Fitzgerald on vocals and bass, the brilliant Julian Swales on guitar and Dan Goodwin on thunderous drums. Their first three albums were produced by the legendary producer High Jones. That trilogy is perfection and has three of the best album titles ever. Influenced by the Chameleons and the Cocteau Twins, their ethereal rock (NOT shoegazing) was just gorgeous. After those 3 albums they switched to co-producing with Pete Bartlett (The Cure’s recent producer) and sounded a bit harsher. Their fifth and final album, self-produced, was a swan song going back to their earlier sound.

If you can find the box set, it's a must buy as the volume was increased on the remasters and you can really crank it up.
