You know things are getting real when a great song comes on in an JRPG and they decide to have it play during battles too. This song is probably one of my favorites this year. It was super fun putting together, mainly because there was a genuine scenario behind it from the very start (for that little game idea of mine). May it bring all the emotional JRPG vibes (or whatever else). This is "Song That Plays When the Main Character Has Their Redemtpion Arc a Little Too Late". I hope you enjoy!

@@Shadycicada Same actually, watching your videos made me go "wait a minute, I could do that" I got started with Beep Box (also thanks to one of your videos) and now use FL Studio, but watching your videos (and making Undertale remixes) is how I got started, and I can't thank you enough for that. You made something that seemed impossible look manageable, and showed how it could be, and that really inspired me ^.^

Bro I love these kind of songs with the "controlled chaos" sound, with everything happening all and once and all coming at you at the same time, but it's perfectly controlled so each individual piece is synced with each and it just ends up being an eargasmic piece of music. Thank you for blessing the world with this banger.

hey shady! there's a cool technique called release-cut piano that can be done in some piano software (such as addictive keys) which completely removes the release of the piano, giving it a very sharp sound. it'll help a lot if you ever try to make that "glitchy" piano sound in the future.

Second I want to say that thanks to you I have officially became a full time composer and everything that I have learned in this profession is from your videos. And for that I thank you! I have learned how to effectively write music for different styles and genres as well as 8- bit music which is still a little difficult however I am learning and improving. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your video’s.

The percussion (as in not including the piano), the strings, the very fast paced bass line, and the dire emotion all give this a very Nier Automata vibe, which is about the best soundtrack I've ever heard in my life. And even with that, you still have so many things that make this match the Shady Cicada sound better than anything else I could compare it to. No matter what fun things you change up every song, what different emotions or instruments you explore, it still has your distinct sound, and its a great sound!! Im sure the leitmotifs help with the consistency haha. The varying levels of distortion on the different piano lines was a really cool touch!! Going to be listening to this on repeat for sure!

As a cool scenario for the plot I could see the track working for a side scrolling game action rpg like odin sphere and separate parts of the song being incorporated into "stage themes" because the main character just got their hands on the means to defeat the overlord of the darkness horde threatening his nation, family and friends. And you have to rush through shortened versions of the previous stages to get back home alongside your close friend/ally/brother...

Every time you mention the game idea I’m just filled with this awe that through whatever project you put out I can clearly see a fully fleshed out world, scenario, and characters. It truly takes a talent to dunk a listeners head in this bucket of sheer immersion and convey the intended emotions without providing a single piece of visual context. With this soundtrack literally any game can be brought to life, and it’s absolutely the game I’m most excited for despite it not even existing yet lol. Shady if you somehow happen to read this, don’t ever stop pursuing this dream as long as your hearts still in it. The potential is insane and you are the person that’s capable of makin it happen, so keep at it!!
