Hi Friends! In this lesson you will learn how to play Songo on Timbales. The Songo is a Cuban rhythm which first movements came from percussionist Blas Egües with Los Van Van de Cuba and later perfected and popularized by Jose Luis Quintana "Changuito" in the 1970s.
Many of us percussionists emulate this rhythm with our spirit of creativity and try to do it our own way without losing the characteristics of the Songo rhythm. This version was created in conjunction with my first conductor "Jorge A. Gilkes", 24 years ago, while trying to implement it in the spotlight of the song "PRENDE EL FOGON" with the Orchestra Tumbadora of Cali. I hope you like it and that you learn it...remember practice makes perfect.
