Such beautiful, such confident performances. These two young men are masters of their art.

Absolutely excellent performances of these pieces. Fisk plays so rhythmically and lightly, still with color - the reason one can make a beautiful case for this music performed on the guitar. The lightness is so supportive for the intimacy of the excellent singer, who can still be in his pure voice. Bravissimo.

"If music be the food of love, play on; Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, The appetite may sicken, and so die. That strain again! it had a dying fall: O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet south, That breathes upon a bank of violets," I'm sure Shakespeare knew Dowland's music.

Wow this is stunning music...both performers are absolutely incredible...the talent and dedication it takes to play at this level is without comparison. Just once I would like to hear this music in the common arena instead of mindless caterwauling and angry foul mouthed punks.

They're from jealous singers.

This is music of a singer/songwriter lutenist, performed not by a singing lutenist, but by a classical guitarist and a classical singer. If someone isn't particularly fond of classical style singing, that's reason enough to dislike.

Very nice singing and playing. However, i feel this music sounds so much better with a luth.

Fantastic Singer, unfortunatly Eliot Fisk makes too much mistakes.

His phrasing is actually pretty great here and I normally don't like Fisk. His turn his really rounded warm yet precise and clear. Nothing to really dislike really.

Gay renditions
@janach13052 жыл бұрын
Dowland is better known for melancholy than for gaiety. This singer is rendering the sad songs in a properly sorrowful manner, and only the happy songs are given gay renditions. The word "gay" keeps its original meaning, despite the new meanings it has gained over the past century. Since none of these songs refers explicitly to homosexuality, and the performance is in no way "weak," the original meaning of "happy" must be assumed.
