Once I've regained some sanity I'm going to use this same system to do something much more dynamic (and far, far shorter) to create a base showcase for this same base, which capped out at over 22,000 population. Then it's back to much simpler videos, and actually playing the game :) You can see part of an attempt at the recording process here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKucY2OPd7B4grc

this is so spacious my garthimi brain can't comprehend it

Hah- The Garthimi are probably the most familiar with the city as the Transporters and Janitors- their speed in those roles really holds the place together; couldn't do it without them!

This could have been cool if there was some material change between each frame or if we could see the entire city. As it stands the first few minutes were great, then it was stagnant for most of the video with a couple of changes at the 7 hour and 53 minute mark and then the same until the end. Missed opportunity, especially considering the amazing cities visible in some of your other videos.

I appreciate the input @Blxz. I don't disagree; this was mostly a software project and this was the output. I'll be doing more complex things with it as time goes on. Notably with a recent video I learned how to stitch together multiple scenes which isn't possible in game to make larger scenes as you're describing, and using this video's tech I can fade together said larger scenes as well as do timelapses. Plus in the process of figuring out how to do that I figured out how to macro the camera movement consistently (the game wants to smooth the camera which makes macroing it inconsistent), so I should be able to do dynamic scenes as well. Building up my toolbox and sharing my progress as I go

I'm glad I spent all that time polishing up the audio and getting the transitions right!

Nice video man, long yet interesting, I would honestly say try time lapses for short form content, like KZbin shorts, and maybe allow us to see a wider view of the city if that's possible👍

Thanks brother, I appreciate the thoughtful comment! It's not possible in the game, but if I extend the system I coded it should be possible; I never watch shorts but they do hit on youtube- I should do a short just as a proof of concept with the recording/stitching code. Cheers!
