Oh yeah, you just need an equally sized army and lots of micro. Cantors/Argonosh are virtually unkillable in defensive mode as well

I have a crazy idea! The start company map with river. Maybe can you try to make a medieval Paris? I found a lot of maps, with fields and industrial buildings. How the game will react to the real medieval city architecture? Who wants to live there? How many units?

@@danielamado5974 Garthimi multiply beyond their population limit in nurseries, just gotta keep their fulfilment as maxed out as possible. If you wanted to do this with another race you'll need to import plebians either by imprisoning raiders/invading others, or recruiting them from your own realms (I have another video on that)

Yeah- you can release realms from the top center of their management window- one will release them as a new "Free Lands" and the other as a new Kingdom. They'll start off as that single realm, but you can gift them more realms to increase their size.

@@deighv Also a problem! The starvation problem is serious though. Soldiers should probably carry rations on them during sieges. That or fetch food from the nearest source during the battle... Also citizens should break curfew before starving. These issues are especially problematic for midsized cities. It makes it strongly preferable to simply fight the enemy on the field rather than in a defensive siege. And that's annoying because defensive sieges are theoretically the most cost effective and risk-free way to defend a small city with limited military resources.

How did you figure out how much services to give to the population within each tile?

Around 10k population I went through all my services, saw what their percent use was per employee per plebians serviced and mathed it all out from there

Note this assumes you've min/maxed all the other (logistic) things.. Otherwise, consider it a spectrum between the game's suggestion and mine- and that this changes ( albeit barely) per race. Barely, with exception of the Cretonians, who know how to party and will consume far more tavern spots.. and religion... Where have I heard that before?

Ai must be well optimised for a large battle to not lag the game, I'm guessing this is done by making them be dumb as bricks. Somewhat reminds me of ye olden Age of Empires 2 ai, since that game allowed for giant swarms of individual units as well.

Haha, you absolutely can- their morale replenishes so fast you can just set them to 'let loose' and attack out of formation and they'll just crush. It's a blast to watch. I think there's more cantors in the tank as well, I set the world map up in a way to give me access to a ton. I think the end boss here is the game itself rather than a massive group of raiders. I'm committed onto moving another city on but I think the key from the error is this line- at settlement.thing.THINGS.addTile(THINGS.java:114) The game is trying to spawn in something- a corpse, gear, debris, even another catapult hit, and it doesn't have the means to do so. The tile is already occupied with things or already built on. I could troubleshoot again and get it a *little* bit further, but I'll call this a win- we beat the game itself! I believe their logic is they destroy anything in their path on their way to the throne, and if there's locked gates in the way they'll target those. With unlocked gates they'll spread out along the walls more.

Not my area of expertise, I skip over that part in runs. Speedrun taking a realm and make them do it for you via taxes :D I will make a video on speedrunning to owning a realm at some point.. All I can say is build on green land, and hunt every animal on the map when you need some extra food.

Additionally my saves, as well as the (mostly python) scripts I use for recording some of the more advanced stuff I do are available at github.com/Deighv/SongsofSyx/ They get updated occasionally as I tinker with them, and there's another branch in there with another city I'm working on now that gets updated via an automated script with all my autosaves. The repo has an unlicense license, so if Jake or anyone decide to use it or the recording software I've made they're free to use any of it in any way. I love me some open source ideas.

Had another thought. I use large internal storage as a buffer in the early game when hauler and warehouse workers are at a premium.

Definitely an option! Something about haulers- any worker will 'work' at a hauler while passing by it as a sort of opportunity job if conditions are correct.. even if you don't want them to >.> You can have haulers off and work will still get done at them

I'm imagining those auxiliary station as a pile of tools that employees have to "surf" over if they need something "auxiliary". You know like in any small business's basement or whatever ;) Excellent video. I learned some stuff after 1k plus hours in-game. Also that city is bonkers. I ran into that same tendency to restart as well; my next video is going to be on planning a base out in Photoshop (okay.. GIMP, I'm cheap and open source) which really kept me going on filling out the whole map. Being able to avoid getting in my own way plus having even a little bit of a plan for the future kept something of a target in sight

Interesting- I'd miss the variation. There's a ton of stuff I liked about v67 when I checked it out but likewise a bunch of stuff that made me shy away from it. Especially what felt like a much simplified meta. The Man himself said it's all up in the air; we'll have to see what we get! Or be pro gamers and play v67 and participate in the discussion- but without a community manager this is as close as I'll get to that
