This is a great game, glad to see it on the channel! Double tapping 4 after finishing the blueprint for a large structure and watching the citizens go to work is surprisingly relaxing. One big tip for construction: hold Shift and whatever tool you're holding inverts, for example swapping adding floor space for creating walls, adding for removing the various productivity zones, or adding for removing building components. Makes it easier to place supports and create more varied or fine-tuned structures/zones.

Just some feedback, the louder vocal sections in the bgm make it a bit difficult to hear your voice at times. May be worth adjusting the volume there

Ooo, I didn't know they have a new housing update. I love this game, one of the best city building simulator available right now. IIRC from previous playthroughs, tools in this is game is #1 priority to a functioning economy, so you'll probably want to get that industry up asap.

I love the pathing heat map for road building. Beats telling a pawn to go somewhere just to check how he plans to get there. You might have sold another game sir.

This game reminds me very much of a something from back in like the early '90s I played at my cousins place when I was a kid. Cannot remember what it was though. The graphical style, menus, and a few other things really provoke those memories... this would be way more polished than whatever that was though.

I have 40 hours in it. I'm now waiting for some more content in it, but I can really recommend it. If it's never updated again I'd easily be able to put 100s of hours more in it. It's a really nice game. Has a dwarf fortress vibe, but is definitely different enough to stand on its own legs.

The beginning of the BGM straight up sounds like one of the Witcher tracks... even the voiceover does the same halt/go at the exact same spot. It's "The Fields of Ard Skellig" specifically, I finally found it after checking ALL of them (including the mods, which have the same quality of soundtrack).

Yup, the same song. I heard somewhere that the song actually comes from an old scottish lullaby, so maybe that's how they got away with it : ).

I really want to like these kinds of games, but I can't help but get stuck at trying to make my settlement look nice. One one hand, I don't want it to look like a cluttered mess, but on the other hand my sense of aesthetics is terrible. And so I get discouraged and stop playing. Sigh.

The best way to do this is like i do it. Always think out of the box, instead of trying to make it "pretty" try to make it realistic, think how u would have done it if u were there urself, while they dont come out works of art they usually come out looking pretty nice and trust me im a really picky guy when it comes to this.

Like someone above said, if you don’t overthink it too much you can create beautiful organic cities. You have to play a few times to figure out the style you want. I recommend trying to not build perfect squares everywhere as it doesn’t tend to create a natural look

husbandry is part of agriculture and these days aquaculture is being experimented and tried more in the world to be like modern day husbandry. only two tings not part is hunting and canibalism. but bad to make a seprate area for that to be fair

Fear a' Bhàta is always a good song choice. Honestly, when I tried to look up videos for this game a while ago I just couldn't find anything good that conveyed the actual gameplay & progression and the forum discussions gave the impression that it is much more combat focused than it probably is - or rather will be, as it may was at that time and stage of development. And empire building, to me, is more than about combat, regardless of how big the armies scale up. Doesn't seem to be a game that ever goes on sale though, so I would assume it may be the cheapest until long after a full release? Dunno. Oh and I do the whole Song of Styx thing too whenever I see this game. :)

The biggest issues with these games - finding the damn starting embark. Spend hours on it for DF alone. They should just let you pick and spot and use a points buy system to pick the resources.

a game of this scope should have a lot more templates to quick build instead of all this micro management inside buildings etc. It makes the game such a massive time sink that I just can't play it, I dont have that much time

Once you build a building, there’s a copy paste tool that lets you place whole buildings or selected areas.
