Hey Quill, just keep in mind you don’t need a full time military, you can just have people train irregularly at the training camp and have them pick up gear and muster whenever a raid comes.

Loving the series so far Quill, I've been looking forward to watching you play this since I discovered the game! I'm sure you've played more since this came out, so disregard anything you're already aware of: - Your storage is full for clothes, you can assign more clothes to your people in the Access tab under Equipment, this will make them happier. - My rule of thumb for employee numbers in buildings is the number of workspots + 1 for carrying to/from the warehouse. That might still not be perfect, but it works well for me. - You could be growing much faster if you were accepting immigrants from other races. The timers seem to be independent of each other, so accepting 4 times the number of races means 4 times the rate of growth. Obviously accepting new immigrants makes current citizens unhappy, which will slow things down a bit, but if your citizens are happy enough to hit the max immigration rate this should help a lot. It's also just a fun challenge to try to meet the different needs of different races! In my experience at least, humans are one of the more picky races, the others are mostly a lot easier to please.

Also, look at the "noise" overlay, people don't like to live next to noisy industries, you'll want to create buffer zones of quiet industries (labs, eateries, latrines, ect) around your housing. Don't worry about it too much though, just like DF, your first few towns are bound to fail for one reason or another anyway. Edit: Just got to the part where you looked at the noise overlay.

I wish the UI made it a little easier to figure out why people are unhappy. Like I know there is the satisfaction thing but it’s not the easiest to parse

This game is awesome! Thanks for showing us with this 'YT Let's Play series'. Now I've a luxury problem. Dwarf fortress, Shadow Empire, Song of Syx, Star Sector. So many cool top-down 'indie' games I've, so little time a day there is. Backlog is the "end-boss" here.

Quill, INSIDE your buildings, please stop butting the things right up to each other! The people DO have to walk to the stations on the other side, so you are needlessly making them walk all the way around the bench to the wall, then back down the other side, instead of just going through a gap in the middle! ;-p (In this case, I specifically mean the Laboratory.) Some of the things mention a radius, like the Janitor used to be 75 squares. (It may still be that.) So that will give you an idea of when you need to replicate services, AND again, to make good paths to the places. (So unless I could read a different radius on things, I assumed 75 and it seemed to work OK.) I haven't played this new version yet, but yeah, you really, REALLY need to keep up with the housing, it looks like.
