Your southern eatery needs a nearby warehouse to fetch food. Their workers are currently walking a long way to grab small amount of food whereas a warehouse can transfer in bulk with fetch.

you dont have a trader working on your clothes exports, and you can use the housing heat map filter to see where you need new housing

Things that bug me :P - Missing road corner by the Masonry workshop. - Missing road by the houses north of the hearth. (I'm about 20 min in, but I'm pretty sure these things will still be there at the end of the episode xD )

I wish more games were THIS optimized. It seems like all of the subjects have many needs and specific traits yet it still doesn't slow down with many people!

especially at max speed the game is able to run. really impressive!

Even more impressive when you realize the game is made in java, which is usually a sluggish thing.

well actually only housing is on a per subject basis all other mood stats are averaged between all pawns of a same race to save on ressources

@@gdblaster9302 Well, the fun is in the way that it FEELS when you play it, so if that fact comes off as obvious, then it would feel less fun to me. TBHonest though, after 25+ people, you have to stop caring about individuals or you would lose your mind. As long as the "cheats" are technically hidden, it's still very impressive.

You CAN have a sudden population crash a few ways I can think of: A Riot by unhappy citizens (may kill regular pop as well as the rioters), a Raid which might kill a bunch of common people and you militia and of course, starvation.

Your clothing export depot has no worker (you manually disabled the previous export by setting workers to 0 and never set it back when you set it to clothing).. that's why the clothes keep piling up.

Not sure if this has already been said or if you’ve found out because I have the attention span of a rock, but if you right click the small eye you use to show overlays it will clear any active instead of needing to fully open it.

loving this playthrough, what a neat game it's like if Dwarf Fortress was simplified enough to be understandable by a mortal person! The only thing I'd ask is if you could fiddle with the background music volume a bit- sometimes the vocals drown out your voice a little bit, even if the soundtrack is lovely.

I think Odd Realm is closer to DF than this. SoS has a very different type of scope.

I'm holding my first town at under 100 hundred while I get to grips with things, and potentailly get a stock pile of weapons and armor. Drawback is the balance of jobs and research with 97 population, Currently dealing with some 6 population who are insane so that my help. Might trade for the weapoins an armor. Just started a small opiate farm they sell around 25d each. Tried the demo which is many versions behind after seeing your first episode and was a quick purchase after that

Something to note, the insane do not show up in the pop count on the top or right hand side panel, so went over 100 when I cured too many. Raid chance is shown on the army icon tootip. Armies appear to default to 4 divisions of 50, reduced that to 1 division of 20 in the army panel.

Suggestion: don't bother with weapons and armor below 100 pop. Maybe even below 500. The burden of supporting militia & research too soon isn't worth it. Trading for weapons and armor can definitely make sense.

I find slaves a good way to get dondorians. I always free them instantly. Helps on progress towards freed slaves achieve. And also there is no breeder. I figure the game is not realistic enough that buying them to free them is just feeding a kidnapping market.

Not sure why you were so dead set against building a tree farmer! (Forget the actual name.) Near the end some trees had grown back, and you just clear cut them again. Sigh.

Can buildings catch fire in this game? If so, maybe it's a good idea to make a start with upgrading to stone buildings. I assume lifespan will be longer for stone buildings.

@@evraght yup lol. Been playing for a little while now. First playthrough I stopped partially through because I wanted to try something out, second playthrough I'm still technically working on and basically lost my entire population from over 400 buggies to just over 100 thanks to running out of food. Had to halt a lot of jobs lol. Gonna restart again and play...I dunno lol. Maybe humans again? Or maybe the dwarf guys. Not too sure lol. And just sit at like, 150 or 200 pop to build up resources.

I've been mixing races, picking humans as my starter, but actually immedietely accepting both crettonians and dondorians (or w/e are they called :D ) and trying to make them all work together. I rly like building mountain "towns" for my dondorians.

Wow youtube has gotten really shitty. This video doesn't even load, like at all. It's the second time this has happened to me this week. The other one I haven't been able to watch for three straight days and I'm not sure if it will ever fix itself. And I've heard it's quite a frequent thing these days. edit: Tried it in Chrome (I use Firefox) and it plays fine. Very odd. But at least there's a workaround.

I guess somleone already pointed it out, but I think you misunderstand the science cap thingy. I beleive it is the cap you can reach of UNSED science, not incluydinh already known tech. so it is still limiting for expensive tech forgetting known tech do not influence it. unless I'm wrong and missed than myself.

Yeah I think that is incorrect. If you pull researchers out of labs you can end up with negative science. So a lab will produce a max of X amount of science and researchers will need to maintain that.
