Mari Hamada was a pioneer in the Japanese female metal scene, and many bands and singers followed suit. Certainly, this song is reminiscent of LOVEVITES in some aspects, but her talent lies in her flexibility to incorporate what she feels is good without hesitation. Her respect for younger bands is also evident. She is traditional, yet always cutting-edge.

If You want to here the real skills of this incredible singer (now 61 Y.O.) watch the live version of "Stay gold" (the range arrived at A6). The singer backing vocals is her sister : Eri Hamada! Thank You.

This reaction of Mari is awesome! She's my favorite singer so I'm glad you liked it. She's indeed a solo singer and she's considered as the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Queen of Japan. She celebrated her 40th anniversary of her career with a Live Tour in october 2023. Despite her age (61 today), she's still kicking asses ha ha. Btw, I recommend you this live performance of hers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nprMhn6iqpJqi5Isi=Jlu0BF9B-cfPMXMq. She was younger in this one (51). This live comes from her 30th Anniversary (in 2013). Thanks to both of you!

Thanks for your reacting Mari Hamada! She made very wider relations with many top musicians through her long career. Also she is a good producer of her own projects. Many famous musicians joined her latest album "soar". This is a first truck of soar. Recording musicians are bellows. Guitar ; Chris Broderick(Act of Defiance、In Flames Bass ; Phillip Bynoe Drums ; Marco Minnemann Keyboard ; Derek Sherinian(Planet X) For other trucks, Michael Romeo, Billy Sheehan, Akira Takasaki and many top musicians joined.

Her voice has only gotten stronger with age! Started singing Metal in the mid 80's. Check out Blue Revolution, many versions over the years. Stay Gold Live is a good one, her younger sister Eri backs her up for live shows (her voice is almost equal to Mari!) Super wide vibrato from Metal beginnings. Also can do tender songs, acapella songs with Eri are amazing! More please!

You've just met the true legendary queen of Japan.🤘Her latest album, released last year, was accompanied by a remarkable 40th-anniversary tour. Witnessing her live, you'll be so astounded by her effortless execution of crazy high notes and her unparalleled vocal control. Not only does she write her own songs and produce her albums, but she also has a history of chart-topping hits. Of course, someone like her can pick any top-notch artist to work with including members from Kami-band for her albums and tours. Misako Honjo debuting first and Mari Hamada, pioneers of female heavy metal artists, were at the forefront of the scene for a long time from the early 1980s in Japan.

Mari is the mother of young female Japanese vocalists like Asami, Saiki, Suzuka, Yukina, Mayu, Fuki etc. She is the icon. But this song is masterpiece. The next I recomend live performance of Mari Stay Gold with fenomenal solos of Takasaki from Loudness another icon of Japanese metal scene.😎

Past Baby Metal Kami band members ISAO and BoH are on the instrumentation. For reference ISAO brings 8 stings into this song while Boh with 6. She was killing it when folks were real young. She is a BadAss.

agree with @ timber1508 below..stay gold 'live' is mind blowing. her 1st album was in '83' with her early stuff being hard rock,hair/speed metal.then had a 15 year period of more commercial sounding pop/rock and in the last decade has returned to her hard rock roots. i love her and one of the best voices i've ever heard!

Mari is the OG heavy metal queen of Japan. Try "Stay Gold" live with Akira Takasaki on guitar and Mari's sister Eri on backing vocals. Side note, Takasaki is also the co-founder of Killer Guitars, played by Saki of Nemophila among others. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nprMhn6iqpJqi5Isi=oiVXusjLIXlSF28l

This video is just about 1 year old. The song is from Mari's latest album 'Soar' released in 2023. You can see all the awesome session players (including her sister Eri Hamada - who frighteningly has a higher range than Mari - as the backing vocal) if you're watching Mari's live performance videos. Thanks for the reaction, guys! 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼

Eri actually has a less range. Her highest note is D6, while Mari's F6 for the hv and Eb6 in mix ^ (E6 studio). And Eri has never sung in the studio for backing vocals. It's only Mari

Yaasss Mari Hamada!!! She is awesome! FYI, She did 2 songs with an Aussie pop rock band back in the 90s, Indecent Obsession. And those 2 songs were major hits in Asia back in the days.

Mari Hamada and Keiko Terada are legendary japanese female metal vocalists since 80's. One year younger Keiko Terada is a vocalist of a female rock/metal group Show-Ya. Show-Ya was established in 1985. They had their bumps on the road in late 90's, but since 2005 they have played with their original line-up and are still active. Keiko and Show-Ya greatly influence this nowadays wide range of Japanese all-female rock/metal bands. In the early 90's they established a annual Naon no Yaon-festival, which is only for female artists. Nemophila, Gacharic Spin, Hagane, Lonesome Blue and many others have played on that stage. Here is for example Show-Ya's song, they performed in 2023 Naon no Yaon. It's one of their big hits from 80's, "Genkai Lovers". kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJaVc6d9pKqnmqc

Agreed. I am 76 and love Hamada as well as BABYMETAL. I was running around in the circle pit twirling a towel @ Makuhari for BABYMETAL's Road of Resistance. I was not able to get tickets to Hamada's Soar Tour in Japan last autumn, but if I did, I would have been there shouting.
