I love how the characters' voices are so reflective of who they are! Janis sings in more of a rock and roll kind of way, showing her tough girl personality. Meanwhile Cady's songs are like a mix of The Lion King and a Disney princess, showing how she's sweet and naiive, and also she's from Kenya!

Love Mean Girls. For me it fits into the category of musicals that have no business being any good at all... but they somehow work! Like Legally Blonde or 9 to 5. Erika and BWW are so good in this.

What I love most about Erika's approach in the song, she starts off softer, sweeter, more shy and insecure and questioning, but as she progresses into her acceptance of Cady's character as someone that ends up being enamored and consumed by the Plastics, it becomes more fierce in tones (heard most through the growl on certain words, like in "shake *my* mane"), and you're right, it's very characteristic! Barrett's voice is very edgy and consistent, which suits Janis's character phenomenally, but you can also sense a bit of deviance/spite in how she tackles the lyrics ("Regina George eats steak"). Source: I'm a voice actor and I do a lot of character study. XD
