i love people that sing what you can tell she has lived every word in this song
@jodyhill85403 жыл бұрын
She’s talking Johnny Walker Red... this song is about her fight for sobriety and mental health. She’s been sober now a year or so. You need to hear Angry Bones or especially Through Your Eyes which is about why she got straight finally. Powerful song and glad you’re giving the love to her. Another female- Emily Scott Robertson Borrowed Rooms and Old Wood Floors is my fav or The Dress which is her true story and a gut punch of a song. No spoiler you’ll have to listen

I literally discovered her 2 days ago. What an artist. What a voice. Great lyrics. Nothing better than finding amazing new music. Seriously can you imagine a world with no music.
@richardlanahan8089 Жыл бұрын
Two days ago when studying a set list for a gig with a young lady. Songs as good as it gets. Bought both records today and although I love the guitar work and production in her case, I don't think she needed that much polish to become a household name.

Great reaction as always. Morgan has a new CD coming out early March. I’ve always said she is the female version of Tyler Childers with her songwriting and gritty/raspy vocals.

Great Review, as always. Love that you picked up on that lip hike too and also her transition from rasp to melodic. . She’s a next level country artist and think that with her record release later this year, she will blow up and be a household name. The next Morgan Wade song should be”Left Me Behind”.
@bmf2620013 жыл бұрын
Also, you’d asked about that Johnny Walker line. Yeah those clever lyrics reference Johnnie Walker whiskey. She’s said in interviews that once she sobered up a lot of good things started happening for her, especially with regard to her music.
@Morningstar8183 жыл бұрын
After your livestream it's clear you needed a breather the walls were closin in a little bit. I'm with you Morgan has the perfect combination of that darker rasp and sweet breathiness let's not forget her strummin and pickin is on point. The lyrics are icing on the cake. For all the South's strengths there's still so many old scars to heal

Thank you to the KZbin algorithm for pointing me to Morgan Wade. I am a professional tour director and in 2019, before our industry stopped, I was assigned a Nashville-Memphis-New Orleans Music tour. I was never a country fan and used KZbin as part of my research for artists, found that I really liked some of the music on here, like Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Mandolin Orange, & The Trishas. I guess the algorithm from those research sessions is still in place as it pointed me to her about a month ago. She is great, so raw. Great storytelling.

Morgan Wade and her band are Great! And I don't even mind all the cliches, because each one is followed by a brilliant line. Wade's music seems so familiar like a well worn sweater where she turns cliches into a comforting base that she brilliantly builds apon.

Like others, I love your reaction to her and how you relate to how she signals her honesty, her intensity and her pain. She has come so far in the five years since this video and I think she is finally getting to the point of letting herself have a bit of joy from it. It is a struggle though doing what she does because of having to be on the road all the time. Listen to her new song Total Control. She aches to BE THERE and engulfed in the relationship she speaks about. Love her to the moon and back🖤🎸💋🎶

It's great you want more female artists to react to, have been meaning to check out more female Americana artists too! There's a couple of bands I like but am not sure if they've got any decent videos to react to but Crooked Still (Great cover of Little Sadie) and The Be Good Tanyas (couple of great covers include Waitin' Around to Die and When Doves Cry) are really good. Even if you don't get to do a reaction you might like their stuff anywho if you haven't come across them before. Hope the time away helped the re-charge!

She is absolutely on point about mental health. Im also from VA ( and a songwriter) you can not have a conversation with an older person about mental health issues without being looked down on. They just don't understand it. To them mental health means "Its your attitude" or "its all in your head" well... no shit sherlock 😂😂

While I'm happy for her to have some success, it really sucks that she has sold out. She is not the same artist she was as an unsigned artist and when she was just doing solo acoustic shows.
