So over the last 1000 years, over 40 million people have been killed in the name of "god," not counting the millions that are recorded in the Bible as being killed BY this loving, caring, benevolent deity. That's 40,000 a year for 100 centuries. On the other hand, the snake, the symbol of the devil, kills about 5 per year. So, you have an 8000 times greater chance to be killed in the name of God than the messenger of the devil. Or, you can realize that religion was created centuries after man started roaming the earth and realize that your N:1 "statistical proof" is a random happenstance that falls far outside of scientific probability and that man created gods, not the other way around.

My following comments are from watching the original B&W 4K Cover video: OMG, the tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed performing their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit 🙏 guides (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" which was phenomenal 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". NOTE: For those interested, here's some history on Paul Simon, who wrote the song in 1964. Watch their video from back then. It's a whole different vibes. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sound_of_Silence I'm 75 and was 15 when they released one of the most popular, iconic classical songs of our time during the 60's. It's amazing how relevant it is today. Actually, I feel it is even more relevant now more than ever, by how we're so attached to our electronics and don't actually share our thoughts and feelings with each other. Because of that, it actually becomes more difficult to do so. We are losing our ability to really be able to communicate with each other. No wonder we've become so divided. I've spent days listening and seeing the many Reactional channel hosts and each of your reactions and hearing all of your comments, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I still 😢 almost every time I watch and listen to it. I've also noticed that more males have shown more emotion and gotten teary-eyed than the females, just an observation. Thanks, from Diane😊❤

One of the things I’ve noticed that seems to get overlooked when comparing the Disturbed cover vs the Pentatonix cover is that Pentatonix uses multiple singers to carry out different sections of the song, whereas Disturbed is just one singer with amazing range that covers baritone thru tenor and even throws in a devilish rasp as well. The Disturbed version is absolutely haunting and once you hear it, you need to hear it daily for several days.

In covering this song, Pentatonix did beautifully what they do…well, beautifully. However, they never left their comfort zone. Disturbed, however, took a giant step outside their typical genre and familiar wheelhouse, giving us an incredible emotional journey. The talent and versatility they display in this performance puts this rendition light years ahead of Pentatonix in my opinion. Glad to see the raw emotion reflected on your face, kudos!

David demanded me to listen to the lyrics, which S and G never could. I was born in the 60's, heard this song so many times in my life, but it never held my attention. Imo, it was a boring song as a kid, teenager, young adult, and a mom. Now, I'm 56, a grandmom, now I've finally listened to the lyrics because David made me listen. When he started with his warm voice, ended with his rage and everything in between......oh my, how I cried. I couldn't stop. Listened to it over and over again. THIS is HOW to deliver a message imho. What a powerful voice, what a great song and the perfectly made video..........beautiful. Ppl, we must listen, we must communicate, face to face. No distraction of phones etc. Really speak and LISTEN to eachother! That's what I'm feeling my entire life. Ppl do NOT really listen to what other ppl have to say. Communicate!!!! Best cover I've ever heard and I've heard a lot in all genres. Great reaction video. You didn't stop to bla bla. Your face, your eyes said it all. Thank you.

Exceptional reaction! As good as the studio version of any song is supposed to be, this is one of those rare songs where -IMHO- a live performance can actually be better than the track. This happened when Disturbed performed this epic song on Conan. Accompanied by an orchestra, David Draiman delivered a spectacular performance despite being ill that day. It was as if he was trying to make the point that, when done correctly, a live performance can be better than the studio version. This point was supported by the numbers as the performance quickly became the most popular Conan video on KZbin ever and the first to hit 100 million views. Given what you experienced while listening to the studio version -you didn't even need words as your face said it all- I would very much like to see your reaction to the Conan version. Keep up the great work!

Right?!?!? There is something about a live performance that is just special. There is no safety net, so nowhere to hide; you get one take. It either goes well or it doesn't. A studio version, on the other hand, can be amazing but it is still the best version of multiple takes.

I have listened to this so many times, and always get wave after wave of goosebumps. Love the artistry of the video, music writers going to be united with the people with the instruments. The ads obscure some of the ending with the ship full of people with instruments crossing the water and headed to the shore with the writers of the music waiting for their arrival.

With the exception of the boy and younger girl on the far shore and the cleaned up instruments, they are all ghosts... I keep hoping the floaty boat will make it but my son assures me it's been too late for a long time... Wish I could find what Draimon's intent for the end was? I don't think the rage would be there if there was also hope?

For me, who grew up with S&G, The Sound of Silence lyrics were a call to arms…a demand for a revolution, and the gorgeous and sublime voices of the two seemed to lack the passion their powerful words seemed to demand. Then enter David Draiman & Disturbed, and I finally I heard the version I envisioned! Now we “see” and understand the song’s message! If you love this version, you’ll REALLY love the live version when Myles Kennedy joins Draiman for this song! STUNNING!

You must listen to the version this band did live on the Conan O'Brian show. I think that was actually better than this official version. While PTX was stunning, I think Disturbed best matches the original intent of this song as a protest against the blind and willful ignorance that Simon and Garfunkel tried to warn people about.

Said the the was now theirs. High praise indeed. This is how the song was meant to be sung. Most people never really listened to the words before, I certainly didn't, David makes you hear them. Great reaction; your face showed your amazement throughout. I look at them as a _Sound of Silence_ trilogy. First there was the Simon & Garfunkel original, brilliant and with beautiful harmonies. Decades later along came Disturbed, who stripped it down to David's single voice but cranked up its intensity "to 11" (They are normally considered a metal band, btw.). A few years after that, Pentatonix covered it, restoring the harmonies while keeping some of the intensity. It's impossible to say one is better than the others, but since I grew up with S&G's original, that one remains closest to my heart.

Your first comment, "dark" is true and spot-on. As you'll see, hear, and feel the the lyrics, you realize it was dark times when this was written. It's amazing how many reactors start this video and are confused. They check their volumes."What the hell". Questions written on faces. They don't get it. The open IS THE OF SILENCE!!! Nothing. Silence. This version, to me, gives the lyrics more meaning. In the 60,s we were a mess. Race riots. Nam. Student activism. Those in power weren't listening. They weren't speaking. I truly think this is one of the best covers ever. It is as relevant today as it was 50+ years ago.

Brother, Did you know that Paul Simon wrote this sitting on his bathroom floor in the dark the night Robert Kennedy was assassinated? Upon hearing this version, he contacted David and told him "This is your song now." Wow. All that said, if you watch the live version on Conan, you can see the string section, a treat in itself, and the timpani drums they put right beside David for some reason. Don't know how he could heat anything those come in! Anyway, it's must-see performance. And, oh yeah, David never uses auto tune as many "experts" on KZbin claim they can hear! Great reaction by you. A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do and he makes it look so damn easy! The thing is the lead singer David Draiman was sick as a dog performing it but you would never know. The live version is even more powerful than the studio version, in my opinion. Disturbed are a heavy rock/heavy metal band, if you want to hear their normal sound I recommend "Down with the Sickness". Be advised it does contain explicit lyrics but Sound of silence and Down with the sickness show David's complete vocal range. Keep up the great work and stay safe.

I absolutely loved your reaction. You looked shell-shocked. I love watching these reactions just to see the reactions of the reactors. I know where the sections where David Draiman does his grunting and see your reaction. I love this song. It's still my favourite of a cover. You must remember that Disturbed brought out that version in 2015 and Pentatonix brought theirs out in 2019

The original by Simon and Garfunkel was sung as a quiet warning to pay attention to the messages that the plastic society was giving value too. Disturbed's performance is more of a wake up call, more compelling and adds an urgency that the original was missing. This is epic and I enjoyed your reaction. For some performances, speechless is the highest praise. We should all look for more speechless experiences. Thank you for bringing us this one.

What amazes me is this was just his voice and the instruments. No harmonies required his voice is an instrument all by itself.

Not sure if you know the back history of PTX.. I first found them here on KZbin a few years ago by watching them win a tv show called The Sing Off and it was all acapella. They are just simply amazing!! Love this Disturbed version too!!

There are many interpretations of this song The original written by Paul Simon in 1963 He wrote about the assignation of JFK The Veit Nam War,and all the corrupted politicians., It was a warning This version David Darimon Sung it in anger be cause no one took the warning But I'm like you I think it's is like a biblical song Great Reaction Saul

I just now found you and loved your reaction. The thing is,it is a simple black and white video with a simple song we all know, but it is so complex both audibly and visually. It draws you in so deeply it just kind of takes you over. Most people don't realize the people on one side of the bank with sheet music, and the musicians are on the opposite bank and they are separated by a river. At the end of the video, the musicians are on a boat crossing the river to the people with the sheet music.Gonna be a lifetime subscriber by the way.

I had never heard of Disturbed either until someone posted this video on facebook, and i was , like you , amazed by this rendition. I then checked them out and am now a huge fan. They are primarily a heavy metal band , but their lyrics are always amazing , making you think as well as listen. You might want to check out "Stricken" ,"Prayer" and "Down with the Sickness " which are pretty much all on the heavier side but worth listening to. hagd enjoyed the reaction.
