This interview was very insightful. Keep fighting the good fight, Tranter. Nobody can tell who you are and aren’t and what you can and can’t be or do…only you can! The most important thing is learning from yourself and your experiences and developing as a person from there onward.

We need less people writing like Justin Tranter and more people writing like Eyedea, Kris Kristofferson, Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse, etc. Tranter has so many tales to tell about his process while so little shows up in the actual content of the lyrics.

Have you ever been a songwriter? There’s a lot more to it than just writing lyrics; you gotta get into what you and the singer might be experiencing or thinking of in the moment…and that can be hard to translate into music despite how easy the radio makes it seem.

Why such foul language? I can't imagine his lyrics are smart at all. And then siting Sam Smith lol

It's hard to take advice seriously, from a songwriter who can't even speak English properly. You cannot pick your own pronouns anymore than you can pick your own adjectives. Languages have grammatical rules for a reason. Listening to Justin talk about Sam Smith as they/them was confusing has hell. Just because there is a trend where everyone wants to sound ignorant and uneducated doesn't mean you should. Justin's Wikipedia page is equally confusing. Sorry, but learn how to speak English before giving other people advice on how to write songs in English.

I had a party last night. Someone left their keys here. I’m not sure who’s they are but I hope they got home ok.
