Quincy Hearts I write songs lyrics first then hook. I do use this unconventional method because it eases song writing. It's much easier to spout your mind first then give it a name. It's much harder to pick a topic then master it. In the process of mastering it you'll over reach. Just relax,spout your mind and give it a name.✌

You're an actor in the sense that you're emoting in your song, even if you aren't necessarily feeling those emotions in that exact moment. You'll still tap into them while you sing. If the song is just for your friend, maybe it doesn't matter if the singing and guitar playing isn't perfect. It seems like a situation where it's the thought that counts. You can always have someone else record either of those instruments, but this seems like a case where personal would be best.

Kevin Bloomfield The overuse of "and" hinders these lyrics. Repetition of this kind is mainly used to create urgency and stress in the line. If you don't acknowledge and address this it comes across very clunky and amateurish. I suggest just dropping the "and" and using the rest of the line as is.

Actually, using a rhyming dictionary can give you a lot more ideas than you would come up with on your own. It’s a great songwriting tool, so I’d recommend using one.
