Tonight was the last night I played high school football. We lost a playoff game and it hit me. Once I put my jersey down in a pile for it to get washed, I realized this was it. I told the lower class men to keep grinding and us seniors sat and cried, we knew it was really over. My point being, enjoy the lights while they shine on you and your team because in the blink of an eye, you’re a senior and it’s your last year to play. Kick ass while you can! Class of 2019

It’s DEFINITELY one of the saddest I’ve ever heard. Just the realism in the scene of the movie brought me to tears. I finished my last high school football game just last year cause I graduated in May 2020. But man the feeling of knowing that you just played your last game is overwhelming and it feels like everything is moving in slow motion as you’re taking your final steps off the field, watching all your teammates in tears hugging each other, hugging coaches, family members. The movie really portrayed that part fantastically. (Sorry for typing so much but this song means so much to me)

@@evg02 I looked this soundtrack up because Your Hand in Mine is in the Pacifico commercial. I found a similar thread on a clip of the final game scene from the movie - fourteen years later (for me) that scene still makes me cry. Whoever produced that scene lived that moment. Those last few moments will always be with you and they'll certainly be one of your best memories - you are a better person than you would have been otherwise for having been in that moment.

One of the saddest moments in a movie I've ever seen. Even though in real life the game ended with a deflected pass. No one wants to face that last high school game. As much as it sucks I truly believe you learn more from a loss.

I have never in my life watched a movie as many times as I have watched Friday Night Lights. I basically got a kick out of it. You have got to respect a coach that builds a team in high school that wins State Championship. As for the players, well it’s as simple as love, once you find what makes you feel alive, it will never be enough, that’s the bottom line. Hope Comes Alive A reason why storytellers should be paid, Friday Night Lights is something worth paying attention to.

Well i love soccer. It's a great sport. But I think that football gives u a greater sense of brotherhood because, unlike soccer you can't rely on just one person to make the play. Even when your running back makes a huge gain, you still need that handoff from the quarterback, and the blocking from the line and receivers. Feeling that someone is willing to risk themselves to block for you, just instills a huge sense of brotherhood. And when the season is over, you feel exactly like this song.

As a football player who just hung up the cleats, as my team lost in the state quarter finals, my heart drops when I hear this song. Football was a way of life, then it just all stops, and you don't know what to do. Moving on is hard when football was what made me feel so alive. I will always remember my time as a Tiger.

this movie brings out the true greatness in football. the best game alive. every member is your brother. the game has so much behind it. the 6am workouts, after school agilities during the off season, seeing improvement in all your teamates and your self to play your heart out once a week for 3 months of the year. this sport has so much behind it that no player will ever forget. The game of football is the best game played hands down.

I blew out my knee in the pre season practice, with it, my senior season. I also lost my scholarship chances, only one school contacted me after I was injured. To watch the other running backs miss holes and passes made me and my whole family sick. Some of the most enjoyable and memorable moments in my life came just before leaving the locker room, an open field tackle, a crack back block, hearing the air leave your opponents lungs. There is nothing like high school football.

I'm 21 years old, in college. Played football from middle school to freshman year of college. You know, I wasn't a big star, I wasn't even a starter all the time, I didn't get a ton of PT. I played OL and spent a good bit of time on the sidelines. And you know what, I miss it like I can't even express. I miss the heat, the exhaustion, the whistles, the impact of shoulder pads, my shirt soaked in sweat. I know its hard, but cry not for the never again, smile for the always remember.

aaww high school football. the practices, the funny stories in the locker rooms, the special treatment you got at school, everybody knowing your name, GAME DAY, that feeling you get right before you take the field, that utter joy after a win or the disgust after a loss, the after parties after a win, the feeling of waking up sore and hungover after friday night and while all at the same time not knowing that these are the best times of your life. My friends ask me why I love martial arts...why would I want the cauliflower ear, the messed up joints, the constant matburn? Why would I break my body for something? It's the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. It's knowing that the only thing separating you from unconsciousness or broken bones is you and your skill and your spirit. It's that primal urge to yell all of that energy out from under a crimson mask like Darren Elkins. It's not pretty, but there's something so beautifully human about it...

This song makes me think of my football coach from my junior and senior year. He was the 2nd greatest mentor I'd ever had, next to my father. He taught me more about football and life in 6 months than any other coach had taught me in 4 years. He was a man that touched the lives of people all over the east coast. I know this because when he was diagnosed with cancer were calling to offer their prayers. David Farnham passed away on November 27, 2007. Beloved Father, Coach, and friend

I quit my freshman year after dislocating my hip and my ankle in the same year from football. I gave up the sport I loved to play because I wanted to be able to walk straight. Giving up a sport you love really hurts, I know thats corny to say. But I lost a big part of me, all of my friends, all of my memories on the bus were gone. I watched from the bleachers and watched my brothers tear it up only wishing I was out there with them. My love for football is still there but so much guilt lays with it

This is my diarrhea song. Coming off methadone after being a dope fiend half my life, the daily bathroom misery remains. I put on this song, and at the beginning when it's really bad (for those who know what I'm talking about), I feel like Mike Winchell when he dropped to his knees after that last play. I feel broken, disgusting, utterly hopeless...But, then, towards the end of the song, the pain subsides. I become Don Billingsley, and my alcoholic, never proud of me dad, Tim McGraw, points at me in approval, comes down to the field, takes his state championship ring off, and puts it on my finger. And that is when I can stand up from that horrible daily toilet experience, and go through my day. I know that God is doing the work for me to come off this methadone. I drop to 8mg tomorrow, down from 120 a year ago, and 15 years on dope. I could never do this on my own, even with the methadone. But Jesus Christ is ever present with me. To God be the Glory. Forever and ever, Amen.

Not just football players, basketball too. Sports are filled with so much emotion and passion and invoke these feelings to anyone who loves their sport with all their hearts. Senior night, or your last high school game in general, is the most emotional game of your life. Not everyone is going to play after that game, and to come to that realization is heartbreaking. After the clock hits zero, it's over forever. Tears, joy, regret, pain: all of this is enveloped in this song. Every moment counts.

Because some people who listen to b-sides on obscure albums believe that makes them better than the masses, like they're somehow more knowledgeable about music then the rest of us. And now that millions of people have heard the song, they don't get to use this song as an example of their superior knowledge of music compared to the rest of us anymore. So they decide that if you heard it through the movie, that you're deserving of criticism because you didn't hear it the "right" way.

My team lost in the semifinals last year... It was suppose to be the year I had a chance to take it all the way with my team and I was shattered. Songs like this make me remember the good and the bad but losing that game will always have an impact on me from now to the future. I always think: what if...

favorite scene when this song plays......Billingsley's father coming onto the field and hugs his son after the loss, and gives him his State Championship Ring from years before.....he was very proud of his son for playing hard and crowned him a champion all the same.

(follow up on last comment) im thinking about all the friends ive made, the brotherhoods ive formed, the memories i will cherish. Our first game is 4 weeks from this friday, yet it seems like a year away. And once the season rolls around, im gonna blink and poof its over with. For all my fellow high school football seniors out there, cherish you last year. Go balls out on every play and have fun! Theres nothing like the feeling of friday night lights.

I didn't play football. It is my senior year. I had to focus on paying my truck off. So I couldn't play football. But this song just breaks me out in tears cause I will never be able to strap on a helmet.

listening to this and thinking about the moments after my final game as a senior where I cried in my mothers arms because I knew I will never play ball for Adirondack high school ever again. And I am a freshmen in college.
