another thing to note is Soothe 2 is more CPU hungry by comparison. Techivation also has the M-Blender, which gives you more control and M/S options for $45 as of this writing. cool vid, Matty! big fan of your channel. keep it up, pal!

I like to use Soothe for kick and bass unmasking (Jaycens's way) and sometimes I use Neutron 4 on synths to unmask vocals when I have a problematic mix
@Peter-gu9ph6 ай бұрын
Yes I 100% agree Sonible pure:unmask (and the whole pure:bundle) are perfect for people who don't want to spend a lot of time/money and don't already have alternative plugins with more features and options like Oeksound Soothe2, Wavesfactory Trackspacer or Mastering The Mix FUSER.

Thanks for the review! This is by no means meant to offend but Sonible has it right here. I mean, the routing makes sense to me. It's the same way that I would route the kick to the bass (side-chain) in NI Maschine when I make beats. It works exactly the same way. It's kinda funny to see some YT reviewers get confused and complain about this.

Yah. I get it. Just mind fucked me. lol. Just say it how I see it.

@@mixedbymatty I guess this plugin is really meant for the music producer rather than the engineer. My issue with Sonible plugins though is that they introduce a lot of latency. Great when mixing but not while producing and mixing at the same time. I've been using Techivation plugins to fill that gap. They are very similar to Sonible in terms of ease of use. Anyway, I appreciate the video, thanks again for the review.

I use Focusrite FAST Reveal it is exactly the same but it shows the frequencies and shows the waveform at bottom. It's a Sonible algorithm that it uses too. Love it so much.

Gotta check that out

Isn’t that made by sonible? This is basically based on smartcomp in spectral mode
@fcmas7 ай бұрын
Not exactly the same. Sonible themselves have stated the processing approach is different, even from Smart Comp2 and SmartEQ4

you can use the free TDR Nova to do the same thing of this plugin or soothe.

I was getting good results today with integrating a vocal in the mix with Unmask. I've compared it to Soothe. It was a close call, but in the end I preferred Unmask for the sound and the speed.

The sidechain option on Logic Pro is missing when i open the plugin. Unmask is the only plugin that's doing this. Weird.

Trackspacer is the OG though. And there's also Fuser which I think has some mid-side. And Neutron Unmask. I myself own Soothe and I didn't even know it had this ability. I do think it is a little more CPU intensive than other plug-ins. Every time I'm near maxing out my CPU and I put Soothe2 on there, I get crackles. Not so with other plugins. So the winner of this should probably be the one that uses the least CPU... On the other hand, mid-side capabilities are nice. But you can Jerry rig that kind of thing with other plug-ins.

I really dont get these plugins , m new to mixing but how is this different from Trackspacer?

The routing is perfectly logical in my opinion. What's wrong with putting it on the track you want lowering or ducking? Works brilliantly as all of the sonible products.

I’m confused. You’re using the term kick and 808 as those separate things. An 808 is a drum machine. You mean an 808 bass pattern built from the drum machine?
@mixedbymatty7 ай бұрын
808 is almost always the bass line. At least hear in LA. Kick is the kick
@fcmas7 ай бұрын
@@mixedbymatty far from "always" the term 808, which stemmed from the sounds of Roland sp808, became synonymous with it its distinctively sub heavy kick drum. You say "808" here in the south, EVERYONE will think about the kick
@fcmas7 ай бұрын
@@mixedbymatty..early raphip hop songs that made the 808 popular didn't even have basslines, bc the kick was the sole source of low end sub action
@fcmas7 ай бұрын
You're correct. The 808 is a drum machine, whose kick became the reference of name. The sp808 didn't do sub basslines.. other instruments, such as the Minimoog, were the popular source of low end sub baselines

It's worth pointing out to newbies that Sonible make high end professional plugins, and their 'pure' plugins are very simplified, less expensive versions of other products they offer (except for pure:unmask which sits somewhere between their EQs and compressors in terms of the technology used)...

Sonible customer support is one of the worst, if not the worst. No use buying into their stuff if you want support. Rude, arrogant, dismissive and slow
