I do whatever attack time I want and nobody can stop me. When people try to control my attack times I laugh in their face and do whatever I feel like.

If you have a slow attack you will get punched. Best way to remember that.

When you parallel the fast attack, what does this do to the transients - does it let some of them through? I rarely like to hear compression grab a note, except for percussion.
@sac56082 ай бұрын
yeah so if you want punchy drums 30ms attack, for snappy drums 10ms but if your drums are snappy/punchy and short i would just leave them alone or use a clipper to get rid off the rogue transients. edit sorry im tired i didnt read the parallel part so basically its a dry/wet signal you can add the compressed version back to the original giving it more RMS/body without spiking the transients too much

I don’t know pretty much all KZbinrs use AUTOGAIN while explaining compression. That way it’s less noticeable than without autogain on

ever notice how on headphones it's a lot easier to hear compression at lower volumes than at higher?
@sac56082 ай бұрын
yeah because your ears naturally compress loud sounds. thats a good way to compress is to listen to low volume just so you barely hear it

@@sac5608 Yeah that's what i do. Interesting stuff

Attack is rate of change not delay of action. More simple way to think of it 🤓
