If y'all want a trans woman's perspective on the Caitlyn Jenner thing and the proper way to refer to trans people, the answer is: whatever they want to be called. If you're referring the her former career, you'd say Caitlyn Jenner's athletic career. If you're talking about how she won an Olympic medal for Men's Decathlon, you'd say she won "Before she came out," not "While she was still Bruce. It's basically never correct to refer to a trans person by their dead name if they're out.

So about what you were asking around 4 minutes in when it comes to talking about trans people but in the past... 1: ask trans people about this kind of stuff next time since we can give a certain answer instead of just taking a guess 2: you always, always, always use the pronouns and names trans people use *now,* even if you're talking about them before they found out they're trans. If a person uses he/him today, that's his pronouns, period, no matter which time period you're talking about and if someone's current name is John (just a random example) that's John's name, period, no matter what time period you're talking about This video might be outdated but I still wanna answer it just in case ;3

I’m at the part where they’re talking about trans people and as a trans person I am compelled to comment on this very old video: just don’t use people’s dead name or previous pronouns. Like 99.9% of the time it’s not relevant. If you have a trans friend and you’re telling a story about them from before they came out to you, instead of outing them & telling someone their previous pronouns/deadname (very private, personal information btw) just use their current name and pronouns. If it’s impossible to tell without bringing up them being trans, make sure your friend is cool with you telling that story first.
