Being that Sonic CD was originally supposed to be Sonic 2 before the project split into two separate games, the correspondence between this tune and "You Can Do Anything" makes sense as it's a piece of music that would have been in both the console and handheld versions of Sonic 2. It would have been nice to hear a 16-bit version in the final Genesis version of Sonic 2, but I guess it makes more sense to keep the soundtracks separate.

guys this isnt a remix, sonic 2 for the game gear came in november 1992 and sonic cd came in september 1993. so that means that sonic 2 was the original song.

I meant Tails not being in Sonic CD, I can see where the story was going with 2 though. It would make a lot of canonical sense that Tails gets kidnapped in the Game Gear version (which came first), and Sonic rescues him, then comes the Genesis version where they become friends and team up to defeat Eggman /Robotnik.

+PKMN 5D's Wait, doesn't it have exclusively the Game Gear version for some reason? I never saw why all ports of S2 had the Game Gear version and that's it. Other than the challenge factor and the fact that the MS version is PAL (even though you can easily convert it to NTSC-U and NTSC-J) i always thought they would rather the MS version. Oh, and also blue ring box being replaced with the only speed shoes in the game for some reason.

@@upwaveflash8429 Well it isn't uncommon for them to reuse tracks or use old tracks as inspiration, just look at SA1, it has a few tracks that took inspiration (like twinkle park for example) even one of my favorite if not my favorite non vocal track from shadow the hedgehog, the theme for "lost impact", I guess it took inspiration from panic puppet act 1. There's more but I can't remember them atm And I'm not saying it's bad or anything, in fact I like how they did it and it's fun to discover tracks we didn't know were used before. I guess the only thing that surprised me a little was the fact that I didn't know "you can do everything's melody was also taken from an older game.
