For anyone watching this video for Sonic 3 A.I.R. , you cant restart the level to get those last few Giant Rings. You have to die. I restarted and though the Giant Rings where not there anymore you dont get the achievement. It only counts if you die.

It depends on how familiarized you are with them. For example: person X went on these special stages multiples times on many playthroughs, the more you play them, the more knowlegde you have, decreasing the difficulty.

I'm playing on origins and I got all 7 emeralds but when I try to get the 8th one for hyper sonic it justs gives me 50 rings instead

i dont know about origins, but on S3&K you get Super sonic after 7 emeralds on the sonic 3 part (ends on launch base), until then the Giant Rings are 50 rings . When the other part begins on Mushroom Zone, you lose the super sonic, then collect the 7 super emeralds to be hyper.
