Sonic Adventure 2 HD (PS3): Metal Harbor - A-Rank (Bottom Rocket Handle)

This is a video from me, DarkspinesSonic A.K.A Da1AndOnlySonic, showing an A-Rank run of Metal Harbor while going directly to the bottom handle on Sonic Adventure 2 HD for the PS3. Not bad at all, you just have to make use of technique bonuses and understand what gives a lot of points (like the plane for example). Time bonus isn't as important in this game as it is in other Sonic games when it comes to rank. Your time bonus starts off at 10000, then decreases by 20 for every second after 1 minute passes (so a time of 1:03:52 gives you a time bonus of 9940 for example). I made this video in response to a request that was made to me. Enjoy! ^_^

For anyone having trouble A ranking this, I strongly suggest at the part where you destroy the two planes to afterwards go and combo the enemies on the same ship(around the middle, on the left) leading up to an extra life. This gives you almost a thousand extra points and you only lose about 8 seconds. This makes the time restraints of the level much softer and you can miss many of the rings in the pipe at the end. I just A ranked with 20600 points in a more flawed run than many of my runs before trying this strategy.

In case anyone didn't know, using the bounce attack after a homing attack holds your chain of enemies (I'm pretty sure, as I've used that a good amount of times). So the first part of this level, for example, I destroyed the first two enemies, then bounced to the next few enemies and continued my homing attack chain. The score acted as if I had one homing attack chain.

I know! I literally was able to do the rocket one time with the extreme bonus points and it was after repeating the section to practice. I tried to actually do it with all my points and I kept missing the rocket by half a second because the stupid speed booster wouldn’t get me up that track. Two hours and nothing.. I did it this time by destroying the planes and the robots near the planes and got A rank. So much easier

I never found the top rocket handle to be all that hard. You can just abuse the physics engine and spin Dash Jump up the ramp all the way to the ring trail

I had the song while driving near the beach in Tampa and it was really good for such a blue sky. And a few things about this: The drive near a beach in Tampa while driving to a hospital is what the first few rocking guitar seconds were in the audio. What the song makes me feel like is similar to Aquatic Mine and Karma by JoJo Siwa. These made me feel like being in the pool in the spring.

you cant get all the rings in most of the stages because for some reasons theres a ton of out of bounds rings that still count.

This is a prime example of why I started to hate this game. You can run through a level quickly, flawlessly, and pick up rings and destroy enemies the whole way, and still get a bad rank.

That's what YOU think but I could bet you ignored the secret life in the giant homing attack chain with the golden robot, didn't get any rail bonuses, also ignored the chain in the left from the planes, didn't destroy any planes either and got a poor time count

I didn't know you can destroy the planes, I also didn't know there was a higher handle. I got my a-rank be destroying the series of enemies on the left of where you destroyed the planes and the 2 enemies in the storage areas next to it. Roughly the same score but next time I'll be killing airplanes, it just looks much cooler ;)

You might already know, but when the missile is launching and Sonic's holding on you could make him let go earlier. I'm not sure of a specific way I just mash jump and down.

Finally pulled off the a rank. I must say I find the ranking system quite bizarre in this game it's like you still need to do it as quickly as possible but at the same time they want you to slow down and kill practically all the enemies

I really hated how strict this particular level was for A rank. Like, I'm all for hard levels, but this was level 4 on the hero story (The easier of the two stories). Gotta love how I can get an A rank in Final Rush much easier than Metal Harbor.
