@@orifan1 when you hit him stick really and I mean REALLY close to the wall and hit him at the very end of his tail if you get too close he'll switch sides and you'll lose him it does take some practice to do tho

I remember for the longest of times I had NO IDEA how to fight this guy and finished the entire Dark story mode before coming back to him. It took me a FUCKING YEAR to figure it out. I was borderline crying tears of joy when I finally won and was able to move on in the story.

@@cryptidcloud Same. I always tried to out run him as a kid, but he would always show up on the other side. It wasn't until years later when I picked up the game again that I realised you had to lag behind so he could do his fire breathe attack, and then you circle round and hit the timer.

when I first played this as a kid, I had a dream where there was a hard mode of this boss (which I know there isn't) and I remember it fondly cause it scared the fuck out of me. It was king boom boo with the face of a regular boom boo (which is much scarier imo) and it was much larger and his speed was more faster. Shit was terrifying

As simple as this Boss fight was I absolutely love how it showcases Knuckles speed. The running animation gives a great sense of speed produced via effort. Unlike these new Sonic games that abuse the Boost mechanic. I wish Sonic Team would realize that the formula for a great 3D Sonic game exists in the blueprint of the Adventure series, it only needs updating not overhauling.

I remember in the classic games boom boos were completely invincible creatures that mainly just followed you from room to room and were harmless in the light. But the darker it got the more threatening they appeared until it got to the point they were fully hostile. You couldn’t even kill them all you could do was turn on the light and try to get through the rooms before they went out again.

The battle really makes me think Knuckles always gets the shit end of the stick in all of these games. He always seems to fight the most horrific bosses and enemies, and is pretty much always stuck having to do it all by himself without any help. Ntm, it’s all typically because he was manipulated or tricked into doing so, all because he’s just trying to protect the master emerald and not even because he’s trying to save the world like Sonic or other characters. And having to go to haunted places and fight spirits and other undead monsters is clearly no exception to his bad luck
