It's more accurate to Sonic 3 model, the 3d blast one is a different model that might or might of not been based on Sonic 3 one, but they are similar

I'm not sure even expensive arcade boards costing 10's of thousands had Dreamcast capabilities in '94. That kind of power would have been far too expensive for the consumer market at the time, it took a console generation for economies of scale, new CPU processes etc. to enable that kind of hardware power to be made available at a palatable price to the consumer market.

I haven't touched 3D animation software since 2011 but I wish I could do something for the running animation. Because when he's running on the Genesis sprites, his legs are bent when they go up. They don't just remain straight and rotate around an axis. The movement of his feet is not perfectly circular, it's oval shaped and the feet are going over the shoulder because he's tilted forward. What happens is that when the feet are at it's highest point, the knee is bent close to his face and what you see is the bottom of the feet placing the camera with a smear. The optical illusion only makes sense because the animation is 4 frames long so you don't see what happens in between the leg being up and the leg touching the ground connected by a smear that traces the arc without showing the entire motion.

man 3d blast sonic, i believe his design is underrated and i used to love watching the cutscenes of the saturn version were we get a better look at 3d blast sonic's render and it's nice to know there is now a mod to make him playable, i dunno something about him is like a nice mix of classic with a hint of modern before they updated his look for Sonic R

I mean it's not just Sonic 3D Blast but it's used in Sonic 3 and Knuckles too *there's a little cameo of it as a icon on Christmas Nights too it's where I got the life icon from* as title renders and the base for the sprites, it's impressive to think Sonic Team already had this render made as early as 1993 *since it's in the Sonic 3 Beta but isn't animated yet* it might of stayed a little longer if X-treme didn't mess things up, the one used in Sonic Jam and Sonic R seems like the real modern Sonic/older version of it, since Sonic's taller and has longer spikes but has the same design features, will be uploading that one next.

Nice to see this retro CGI model finally run on real time! Also, nice to see stages looks great without any modding, because Dreamcast in fact had the power to make them look that good still today! Design wise, i still pick og sonic adventure/adventure DX Sonic model, but is great to finally see on real time 3D the mid 90s CGI one!

From what I can tell The music is different like the speed shoes theme is no where in the game and final egg uses twinkle parks theme A few sound effects are from the genesis and 3d blast Sonics model seems to be a higher poly-ed version of his 3d blast model

as much as it is cool, it doesn't fit in well. I always saw 3D blast and Xtreme as like brothers as their sonic designs looked very similar and the game aesthetic was close. At the end of the day as much as we wanted Xtreme, 3D blast was a good candidate to fill in that gap and lead the way for adventure in numerous ways.

X-treme is basically the USA Sonic render *kinda the next design after the mo-hawk/western Sonic art* while 3D Blast uses a updated model Sonic Team made in 1993 for Sonic 3, it's even used in Christmas Nights as a icon and SEGA's website for 1996 before Sonic Team moved onto the Sonic Jam/Sonic R render so in short it's Japanese design vs Western design, 3D Blast wasn't really a good candidate since a lot of people just got the Genesis version or moved onto Mario 64 or Crash.
