Honestly, I truly do like this depiction of Sonic. Like, he’s still a joyful, fun character, but deep down inside, he’s just a /little/ unhinged. You kinda have to be to live the way that he does. It’s not that Sonic doesn’t care or is secretly bad, just that he has no issues in letting his inhibitions go loose. He’s unapologetically himself, to a point that it can ruin other people. He’s the definition of chaotic good (with a little emphasis on the chaos part).

Interesting portrayal. Also on Eggmans monologue, the IDW version of Eggman admitted he could easily defeat Sonic by just carpet b0mbing everything. But it wouldn't prove his superiority over Sonic, so he doesn't do it.

Absolutely love this portrayal of Sonic. He doesn't take shit from anyone especially shadow. He doesn't care about what others think of him or about societal norms, he does whatever he wants when he wants and is happily unapologetic about it.

honestly in terms of character, he's very similar to jjk's sukuna, just obviously a different reflection of the same premise sonic acting as a "i save the world because i just do whatever in spur of the moment decisions" meanwhile sukuna would act in opposition to that, saying he "kills and eats whatever whenever in spur of the moment decisions, because i don't care" the character comparisons, while unlikely are actually really in depth the further you look into it both characters are different sides of the chaotic neutral coin, sonic being the yin to sukuna's yang, were they ever to interact

I really like this interpretation of Sonic. It doesn't quite make him seem sinister, just a bit more unhinged, more wild than usual. He loves nature, freddom and all that other stuff, but his true motivation lies in the chase of it all. No matter if he's the predator or the prey that rush is what drives him forward

This depiction of sonic is honestly the best one cause it really shows that true unhinged nature cause truly he isn’t afraid of death and he just goes with the wind and technically he has died alr and came back so death is new to him, but on top of all of that his unhinged nature suits him well and kinda shows us what Chaotic Good truly is cause he isn’t Peaceful good or Chaotic Evil

This is the more darker side of Sonic’s carefree attitude, he loves his freedom and adventures but he also loves the thrill and will often put himself or others in dangerous situations without thinking of the consequences to get that rush of adrenaline. This is what I think get’s on Shadows nerves the most about Sonic, unlike everyone else Shadow sees right through Sonic and sees him for what he is a reckless hero willing to do whatever it takes to get that thrill of excitement. That’s why him and Eggman need each other, Sonic for the thrill and what he sees as fun whereas for Eggman it has become an obsession that he can’t just kill Sonic he has to outsmart him in every way possible to prove his superiority then and only then will he kill Sonic. Sonic has proved what happens when he rushes in without thinking I.e. Sonic Unleashed when his cockiness not only lost him The Chaos Emeralds but was also one of the reasons why the earth was split into pieces and let’s not mention what happened at the start of Sonic Prime and what happened when Sonic rushed in without thinking.

Yeah, Sonic had proven he rushed into action without thinking, but later in Sonic Prime, he regrets rushing in without thinking because he knows he accidentally caused that event. While Daiya had shown the darker side of Sonic's carefree attitude, Sonic Prime can also show that Sonic CAN regret to some extent and are willing to make things right since not only did he lose his friends due to that said action, but the fact he caused those events due to his recklessness, that's why I like about Sonic because even though his carefree attitude can be depicted as much darker side, he also the most empathetic towards others. In Sonic and the black knight, we've seen the best interpretation of Sonic when he gave a speech to Merlina the wizard.

This version of Sonic is kinda scary, with his internal logic being so twisted to the point of being kinda unpredictable. Basically Eggman: blows up the Moon, destroys Earth, enslaves entire alien species, breaks time and space Sonic: Whatever you say, Eggman! Like, the fuck do you mean "whatever"

To me, it’s not that Sonic doesn’t care. He always stops Eggman’s plans at the end of the day. These comics are just depicting that Sonic LIKES how chaotic the world becomes when Eggman or whoever else attempts to conquer or destroy it. He LIKES the challenge and he likes to taunt the very concept of death every time. He cares, but he cares in his OWN way.

i like how instead of sonic hitting shadow anywhere else, he hits him not only in the face but that sensitive spot; the nose. as well as the dialogue build-up and then his reaction to after he hit shadow. noticing that helps me understand what most of the in-depth comments here are getting at in regards to sonic’s character. and it also can kinda make you think what couldve went down after that bit. the fight continuing with sonic igniting that rush of adrenaline within him. its almost like most normal fights. 2 people going at it till someone pulls out a random move that either ends it or keeps it going

this is kinda canon, now in idw comics we recently know that eggman is only alive cause he's able to keep his body strong and well trained to figth against sonic and the others mobians, dr.eggman is bulked and we didn't knew, he is able to pick a 1v1 with with any common or even well trained mobian, cause he knows that when the times come, he could easily streaks back if he need to

Before this, I've read a comic about a version of Sonic.EXE that is born from a Sonic who bottled up his feelings, so now it got me thinking: I'd love to see this artist's interpretation of Sonic face off against that EXE. On one hand, an EXE born from Sonic's negative feelings, basically saying the whole "awesome hero as free as the wind" thing is just an act Sonic put up for his friends and deep down he is as normal as everyone else. And on the other hand, normal Sonic, until you look deeper into his existence: He always wear his heart on his sleeves, no hidden feelings, no facade whatsoever. He lives in and for the moment, always run ahead without stopping. It's somewhat unnerving because it isn't normal or natural, someone who lives like this naturally can't be a normal person deep down but instead a living force of nature.

A hero can't exist without a villain and the same can be said in reverse. If Eggman wouldn’t be the one that finishes Sonic, then he'd go into depression, but Sonic at most would feel nostalgia for the Doctor and their days of fighting each other. In reality, both Sonic and Eggman are more similar than most would like to admit. Both are beings that roam endlessly without a true place to call home and can turn the world and universe upside-down with either their intelligence or chaos powers, but their main difference is that Sonic has friends who care and sacrifice themselves for him while Eggman is met with only betrayal, a fact he's aware of. Sonic would be always friendly even to ones that would become his enemies while Eggman knows that the ones who are sticking close by his side are only in for their own gain and would later abandon him.

It makes me think of Master Chief when he questioned why he was able to do the impossible, having a luck that seemed almost supernatural to survive situations where he was certain to die, in the books it almost led him to have an existential crisis. I don't remember if this was real or invented by the fans, but at one point he tried to shoot himself with a gun without his helmet on, the gun jammed. Basically Sonic has had so many near-death experiences that he has lost all appreciation for his own life and only keeps himself alive from any fight by the vague desire for self-preservation. If I die okay, if I live okay, the world will go on.

Eggman is decently strong on his own, but in part, Sonic also let Eggman hit him, too. The two were in the middle of a verbal and physical back and forth, to help visualize how they both have the capability of killing the other, but that they’re both holding back from doing so.

I've always headcannoned that Sonic can use Chaos energy just like Shadow, and can use and control it to a MUCH greater extent without the need for inhibitor rings. The reason why Sonice doesn't use Chaos energy? It would take the fun out of whatever Sonic wants or plans to do.
