I love how all the Sonic creepypasta mods are uploaded at 3 AM. Also, when I was a child, the Tails Doll scared the shit out of me. I first heard about the Curse of the Tails Doll like right after I turned 10, and me, being the easily scared child I was, believed it, threw out my copy of Sonic Gems Collection, and was living in constant fear of the Tails Doll for a week until I saw a psychologist about it. Coincidentally, I still haven't touched Sonic R since, I think. Don't creepypasta and drive, kids.

It's because children are considerably easier to scare than teens or adults. If a child saw a screamer chances are that would terrify them to the point of crying. And I think at least 40% percent of people have stories about how when they were a kid they wouldn't turn the light off at night/they were scared of *blank* because of *insert horror movie/traumatic experience here*, which is probably what started the stereotype.
