Don't forget about the Avatar or the fact that you can't go Super in Boss Fights either. Also, the Phantom Ruby being more powerful than even the Master Emerald was a garbage plot element, an excuse to not have Super forms for the final boss fight. The fact that Mania did it and Forces did not makes it suck even more.

You’ve been playing on Normal Mode. “Hard” Mode works like any other Sonic game - you can collect up to 999 rings, but if you get hit, you lose all of them. Apart from that, there’s no difference, so I would recommend playing on Hard Mode
