This really shows how much better-designed Classic's stages were than the 2D sections of the other stages. (Except for the auto-scrolling part.) It also shows that Modern just has better physics than Classic. He actually got up the infamous Chemical Plant slope.

Fedora Sleuth first of all Sonic 1 originally had the same physics of Sonic 2 but the game was slowed down after beta tester's said the game was "to fast". Second of all running down a slope to gain momentum is not the same as tapping a button and instantly gaining that speed. The fact that sonic can't go as fast as his roll when he runs is a problem but it is important to understand that the physics engine isn't made for momentum based games at all so maybe I shouldn't complain

Classic Sonic, in these modern games, has always been *Nerfed* Sonic. He doesn't have the Classic Physics to make up for the restricted moveset. And when you make him super heavy, momentum-less, and give him boring level design, this is what you get. This is why Modern makes it bearable. He has a boost and stomp to control momentum and position respectively. They should've just cut Classic, made 1 more act for both M Sonic and the Avatar instead of this and the pointless bonus stages.

You know what? This would actually make the game better. I don't even mind it being fully 2D because boost started in 2D and I think still works best in 2D. Besides, let's be honest here, the 3D parts in Unleashed and Generations were pretty much 2D sections from behind Sonic instead of from the side, sans maybe one or two bits of 3D platforming or side-stepping now and then.

The graphics may have improved and other characters may be playable... but that means nothing when the levels are around 2 - 3 minutes long... Also, A fitting line for Modern Sonic at the auto-scrolling segment of Iron Fortress is the “I don’t like tight spaces” line from egg gate, but replace “tight spaces” with “Auto-Scrolling”.

Clearly Modern Sonic works best in 2D, which shows in the fact that they always fall back to it. Honestly, they should make an HD Rush-style game, with the 3D segments as bonus areas like they were in those games. That way they can focus on NEW level motifs, implement what Mania has done right, add unlockable characters, and make level design that takes advantage of Sonic's speedrunning mechanics.

NintendoLover2005 You f**king joke Sonic Colours had 3D sections that were bland straight hallways with few enemies. Almost all of them that are in the game are used several times and they're still bland. The only interesting one is in one level of starlight carnival. Sonic Forces has much better ones. Yes there are still straight hallways, but when they aren't, it's much more interesting. If anything, they're on equal levels.

I'm not implying they were. What I meant is that the Colours ones felt lifeless. It's like Eggman isn't even trying to stop you (which doesn't make sense with how he knows you're there). Forces, while yes it does have bowling pin like enemy placement, it shows Eggman is trying to stop Sonic although he is underestimating Sonic's power. Also, multiple full 3D levels in Forces are 900x better than few and far between 3D sections in Colours

In the Green Hill Eggman boss, if you air-boost and land onto the Egg Mobile and then boost on it, Sonic would literally boost around it and not fall off while doing damage lol.
