maybe I'm just weird, but this is that one boss battle in gaming that looks its best when you don't do things the right way lol. Dodging those missiles while flying in the air at max speed with that little screen shake is my favorite memory of this game - but I learned something new from this, so thanks! Never once thought to parry a missile for some reason

Running the gauntlet to reach Wyvern's head and steal back that Emerald was hard, but the fight itself was an epic challenge! But he's not so tough if you remember the ability to parry. The only reason I failed the first attempt was that I didn't know what to do with that timed QTE with the rockets... but once you figure out what you're doing, you feel like a titan yourself for slaying the dragon!

This is why I feel that The Final Horizon depiction of this fight is a downgrade from the original. In my opinion, what made this fight memorable and worth coming back to on the bossrush was the fact that, as a whole, it was built to be an epic spectacle from beginning to end. When you take all of that out and convert it to an eye-frame specific timing sort of battle with reduced health... it actually wastes what the boss set out to do in the first place: SHOW THAT SONIC IS A POWERHOUSE against an even LARGER THREAT. HOWEVER, I still love the Final Horizon DLC cause it made the ending worth the wait! 🤣
