The thing is: that already happens (at least I feel it does) It's just that sometimes they make him one way, while other times they make him in another way, different approaches in different scenarios For example, the Classic IDW Comics, or the official animations with classic characters like Superstars Trio of Trouble, Mania Adventures or the Origins cutscenes, the characters looj pretty cool in those I'm okay with Classic Sonic sometimes being both And honestly? I also feel that Classic Sonic ALSO already has it's own style that differs from Modern While Modern Sonic has both fantasy-like locations and surrealistic ones, I feel like Classic Sonic has that unique only fantasy-like locations, even new ones Reading the Classic IDW Comics or playing Sonic Superstars, the stages feel vibrant and almost feel like something from a different world, unlike Modern Sonic which is always playing with surrealism, where it takes a realistic location and add surreal elements to it I also feel like the Modern and Classic casts and characters have different approaches to them, the Classic era characters always feel so distinct, as if they don't need to follow a specific design, while also always feeling like Sonic characters, their designs are colorful and much more distinct and wacky, while I feel the modern designs are more "consistent" I dunno, interacting with Classic Sonic stuff, even current official stuff, always have a different feeling compared to the Modern Era for me, and I love that feeling, world and stories, they're really unique

One of the things I like most about Sonic Galactic besides the pixel art is Turbo (the red Metal Sonic) according to the creators, Turbo is a version of Metal Sonic that was created with scrap parts that were left behind during Sonic's fights with Metal. In addition, Turbo has a new design based on a race car (so much so that his "helmet" has a spoiler and wheels on his arms and feet). Regarding his personality, while Metal believes he is the real Sonic, Turbo believes he is already a better version of Sonic, which makes him act arrogant and showy (and very cool at that). Turbo and Metal don't get along, but if they want to destroy Sonic, they can work together

I liked Turbo as soon as I saw him and with each art I look at I like the character more and it's an interesting concept mainly because he's a Metal Sonic with a design based on a vehicle, if Metal already had a design based on a rocket in Sonic the Fighters then why not create others based on different vehicles too?

This is great and all, but such a game popping up like this creates a problem that is not at all the fan game dev's fault. This is no "Classic Sonic needs to die!" rant, and this is no "Classic Sonic is the only valid Sonic!" rant. I've just grown tired hearing fan games or some other games that look like they took the slightest inspiration from Sonic be compared to Sonic Mania. Sonic Mania should stop being everyone's benchmark for what makes a good Sonic game or Sonic-adjacent game. Not only does it set people's expectations up in a negative way, but it has a similarly negative effect on the developers of these games by putting unnecessary amounts of pressure on them to create a final product that they may feel _must_ meet said expectations. I'm afraid we're getting closer to a point when if your fan game doesn't look or feel like Mania, you're not making a name for yourself in the game-making space. For once, can we let a passion project just be a passion project? Please? If it has a similar look or uses and builds upon ideas from Mania, so be it. But we need to stop shoehorning Sonic Mania into every conversation, we need to stop pretending nothing SEGA will ever make will be as good as Mania, and we _especially_ need to stop letting Sonic Mania dictate how we think and feel about every new momentum-based action platformer that shows up! I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out in the long run. Not because it gives me "Mania vibes", or whatever, but because it looks like a fresh, new adventure that builds upon what it was inspired to provide a unique experience. Let's take off the Mania-tinted lenses and just let the Sonic Galactic dev team cook! Keep up the great work, Sonic Galactic team! It looks fantastic so far! With that being said, everyone, I hope you have a happy 2025.

@@iwuvtrees9568 Imo was at it's best for like a few zones (Bridge Hill or Pinball Carnival most notably personally look great) However, you can tell that some of the backgrounds in this game look a bit lower-detailed, especially with Lagoon City. (Like you can tell that it's just moving jpeg's, even though backgrounds are blurred a bit in this game) And It gets even worse when you play the Switch version, which removes certain details and the blur effect for the backgrounds are turned off permanently💀

So I definitely want to keep Classic Sonic around. My PERSONAL philosophy on it is that his role as "younger Sonic" should be for Generations and Generations ONLY, that the difference isn't canon for the most part, it's stylistic. There's definitely some stylistic touches to the classic games that Superstars missed, sort of a Megaman 11 situation with that game, super fun, somehow not as lasting and memorable as its predecessors. Something about the art style, something about the music, the animation. Definitely not as bad as something like the "New! Super Mario Bros." games on that front, it's not pure "generic Sonic stuff", but you can definitely feel a difference in vibe from Mania to Superstars. As for what I WANT from Classic Sonic, well as per my feelings that it should solely be a stylistic difference, kinda like the difference between Toon Zelda games like Wind Waker and grittier, more "realistic" ones like Twilight Princess, I think the classic games should branch out. Gameplay shouldn't be tied so strongly to art style. It should have SOME influence, obviously, but make a 3D classic game or two. Make 2D Modern stuff like the Advance games. Make more stuff like Rush too. Definitely keep giving us the 3D Frontiers/Shadow Gens style stuff, but also, play around with 3D physics platformers like the Adventure games. Definitely make more traditional 2D Classic games too. Hell, make more traditional boost games sometimes. Mess around with the art styles within the Classic/Modern frameworks too, like how Riders and Battle are both clearly based on Uekawa's stuff, but are still really stylistically different. Bring Newjack swing and Japanese City Pop back into the soundtracks. Add in more stuff like the rapping like in Metallic Madness. Give us stuff like the Sonic R soundtrack. Put Tee Lopes on everything you can. So much of these games' vibes is from sound and music.

However if you haven't yet already, play as Knuckles through the game as he has an entirely separate Act 2 of Coral Garden which is completely separate from the rest of the characters, there is even some lore cutscenes and his own boss!

This looks absolutely fantastic, I'll always be campaigning for modern Sonic 2D games, but when Classic Sonic games get this creative and stylish, it shows that that style still has its place. I do think that people are getting too comfortable hating on Superstars btw, it still has consistently fun levels all around the Emerald Powers bring more to the table than they get credit for, but it is plain at the end of the day. Would love to see official 2D Sonic lean into more distinct artstyles and level gimmicks, make Classic Sonic feel fresh and inventive like Mania did with its original zones

what I want for classic sonic is Fang honestly, LMAO all seriousness, what i want is exactly what sonic galactic is portraying here, wonderful 2D sprite work, fun 2D levels and new mechanics for a selected amount of playable characters, wonderful music, ya know! Mania already showcases that wonderfully but once again, i need the game to be given time and polish, so the end product doesn't need many updates for it, DLC is fine for new additional spots but if its gonna be 60$ i need a lot XD overall, I hope sonic Galactic is noticed by Sega in a good way for them to lock in on Classic sonic games!

8:47 *THIS RIGHT HERE* This is what I've been feeling since the day Superstars was released. I'm honestly pretty dissapointed of the way SEGA is pushing classic sonic these days, not really thinking of him as something important and more of a low-budget side series, which is what Superstars feels like as there were aspects that felt underdeveloped and unfinished (_cough cough, the soundtrack and co-op mode_) I just hope this fangame can REALLY show to more people that classic sonic CAN still exist, it just needs more than just a few new marketing gimmicks that are just there to justify a higher price. But that doesn't man I don't want to see the green eyed dude in the 2nd dimention via a new Advance or Rush game. Heck would LOVE to see all of these types of gameplay styles coexist in some way whether it's a new game or a trilogy rerelease like sonic origins. Heck, the Advance games are still NOT on NSO yet. Only one can dream. Anyways back to the main subject, I really hope Arzest can keep working with SEGA, so that one day they're known more than just the Balan Wonderworld guys

Games Cage this is random but it need some advice on something. I love Sonic The Hedgehog so much and I play his games on my PC but I have recently fell in love with physical copy games and you can’t do that with PC so I won’t buy them if I have no way to play them. I do have the option to buy a PS5 which would grant me physical games but I technically couldn’t have the ultimate gaming experience with modding and full FPS. With that said is it worth buying a PS5 for physical games? Or should I just stick to my PC. Idk it’s a topic I’ve been stuck on and I could use advice on it from someone else that loves Sonic

I haven't played Superstars, but I've seen gameplay of it and as you say I feel like it's lacking in sauce. My dream 2D game is 3D Models, but with 3D panning environments like in Gens. Also new level ideas, not even necessarily fitting into the Classic Sonic formula. I'm sick of 2D Sonic games with levels that fit in with the rest. Give me something like Gens where levels like Rooftop Run and City Escape felt so alien in 2D.

I love classic sonic looking like this. Gimme this and maybe some like paintbrush/spraypaint flair and arsthetic like Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. I like Superstars but pixel art just works so much better for classic and really helps it stand apart from Modern visually. Classic in superstars having a blank expression on his face makes him look so bored. I need him determined and cocky with a little smirk or grin on his face, not 😐 Let him be cool and cocky and alive with expression. Too much focus on classic being cute
