DreeGon Well, its mainly because they wanted the frame rate not suffer like Unleashed, so Generations graphics got turned a bit down, but not too far down.

DreeGon It's the lighting. A lot of Rooftop Run's Generations textures are ripped straight from Unleashed. You can tell by the textures used for the inside of the shops.

they had to tone it down in generations or else we will get so many framerate drops the ps3 and xbox360 are not powerful enough to handle the hedgehog engine

Actually generations textures are better and the models have more polygon Unleashed lagged so they changed the shading system Unleasheds shading system makes it look more realistic than gens

I love all 3. One of the reasons I particularly like the Generations versions though it because it sounds so happy! If you're in a bad mood, that song will definitely help turn that around :P

I like the violins in modern generations alot more, wish they kept the guitar though. Classic sonic's version, while hardly following the original at all, is excellent and beautiful on it's own.

Besides City Escape. this was my favorite level in Generations!!! To be honest, I never got to play the Unleashed version of this level, so I was completely new to it, but the music and the feel of the level got me amazed on every turn!! But, from watching this, I have to say, SEGA really did a great job in recreating the levels for the more Modern gameplay of Sonic(even though there were only a few adjustements after Unleashed) and for the Classic style of gameplay for Sonic.

I gotta say that I do like the music of Generations much better. All the sounds in Generations just sound so clean and crisp. Generations also had much more color and a richer environment than Unleashed. However, Unleashed felt like a longer and more rewarding stage with superior graphics (dat motion blur). So it's really a toss-up for me. I just hope they make a Generations 2 with this stage in it when Sonic turns 30.

+SilverShroom But that´s not what Sonic fans wanted... The game was perfectly fine without it and the normal Sonic gameplay worked. It was the perfect Sonic formula and they improved it in Colors and Generations. I just dont know why the signed with Nintendo to make Boom and Lost world.

I feel like you're missing a lot of other stuff that the two levels have in common, like how they took the pathway to Professor Pickle's lab in the Unleashed hub into the Generations levels, or how Sonic has to bust open a gate in both levels.

Esquadrão Banana Well, I prefer the non HD versions as well, as the day stages feel more arcade like and the night stages are far more enjoyable, even though there are a load of them. But that's fine by me, I liked the night stages. And I found the hub world and the medal hunt in the HD versions to be very annoying (but still pretty). All matter of opinions, I guess. I like both versions.

there might not have been as like i said it has less levels with less space taken up on the disc so they could have added the patch with it if it lagged but it would not in my opinion.

@gamefreakDX The boost was a new feature so it would make sense the main focus of the game would be it. Generations just beats itself (Unleashed did a little bit too) and felt more 2D than 3D when playing as Modern Sonic.

I look at more original footage of Rooftop Run and I see tons of missed things or mistakes. One thing is that BSC say that Modern has lots of memorable set pieces, but are in wrong positions. Like the turn and hen the quick step section, in Generations, the turn is a different one. There's two U-turns. Also I see that Classic's side has a bit more memorable set pieces (which are the 2D sections in the original), not particularly just the barrels and the clock.

@Death2all238 Well yeah, Unleashed did have more 3D elements than in Generations... well really, I think the amount of 3D bits in Generations became less and less as you go through the game. But still the amount is still right between 2D and 3D. Unless you count in Classic, then fine because you know, he's fully 2D gameplay.

the diferrences are that the modern rooftop run don't (from generations) have that cool rails , that clock tower part was skipped with that big rail and with some chasers and the night stages are night stages and classic is classic .

The big problem I, as I'm sure many others do, with Unleashed, is that it wasn't designed as a platformer, it is more or less an obstacle course. Yes, you could die, but it was usually because of your reflexes being unable to respond to it, personally I did enjoy Unleashed,(I played the Wii version and have studied the Xbox and PS3 versions.) and I loved the day stages, and the night stages. But the problem with the night stages is that they well overstay their welcome being about 4 stages long.

Sonic unleashed's Day and Night stages had a big difference. The Day stages are fun and fast, and the night stages are slow, hard, but you got to beat up robots more. Well, at least people liked it a bit, because it has a good story line.

@Death2all238 Well in Unleashed, many people hated the Werehog stages and many others loved the Day time stages. What the problem was, was that it was too much boost-to-win. Plus some of the stages took a f*ck long time to beat (especially Eggmanland). The reason why most of us loved Sonic Generations even more is that... well besides Classic comes back, the amount of speed and platforming is right. Not too fast and not too slow... well Classic may get a few slow bits but you know what I mean.

That's why the werehog levels were there; to make a balance between "HOLY SHIT WHY CAN'T I STOP" and "oh god why is this so slow". but in the end people preferred the quick, exciting daylight levels rather than the slow, convoluted, puzzling and just plain boring werehog levels.

@gamefreakDX There's so much potential in the Adventure games and 06 going to waste right now, making a 2D game like Sonic 4 every once in awhile is fine. The current producer might be going in the right direction, he said now that Sonic's reputation is up they can start making spinoffs and trying new gameplay ideas again. Maybe there will be a new Adventure Style game, played through 06 again recently and it made me miss the Adventure gameplay.

People don't even pay attention to what they play... Sonic Unleashed is NOT about only running and boosting. In fact in most cases if you did that for more than a few seconds at a time, you'd die.! Does anybody remember the Sonic Generations challenge "Action Master"? That's more or less how Unleashed was all the time, which is why I prefer it to Generations. And the Werehog was fun. It was slow, but beating the crap out of robots was a blast. It had better graphics, too. Unleashed>Generations

In a way I wouldn't have minded having werehog for half of act 2. Star Sonic late afternoon and have time go by. Halfway through night comes and he's forced into werehog. Classic could start at 3 am and end at dawn.
