He managed to get the motion blur in through recording his gameplay using a slow motion hack, then he edited the video frame by frame to add in the blur, and then he finally sped it up to 60FPS.

Its pretty crazy what you can achieve when a game allows it. Recording Team Fortress 2 at 2400 FPS just because I can is great. While Twixtor works great here I doubt you could achieve the same effect on other games. Its very easy to interpolate frames for Sonic Generations because you run in a straight line/very little movement from other objects.

you maybe could have recorded your input, which would have allowed you to get the computer to replay the level. Tool Assisted Speed runs of many games use previously recorded inputs, because humans just aren't able to input fast enough to do the weird things required to complete the games as fast as possible... it stands to reason that if it can be sped up, it could possibly be slowed down?

How did you actually record in 240fps? And what was the filesize?

I recorded it with Shadowplay at 60 FPS in 1080p at 50 mbps. Since I played the stage at 1/4th the regular game's speed, it was about 16 minutes long (a regular run of the stage takes about 4 minutes). The size of the source file is just 6 GB. I wasn't very concerned by the fact that Shadowplay records in an encoded format instead of raw because the footage was very slow-paced due to the time hack. If you speed up the footage, you end up with 240 FPS as a result of that.

could someone tell me why people like motion blur, isnt the point of these boost games is reacting to whats coming at you instead of blur it out. the motion blur in unleashed is srsly disgusting, half of the sonic model is blurred to ablivion even if he crouchs or moves 1 pixel to the left

The MB solution used in this video is designed such that you can always see what’s in front of you, the whole point is to make the animations smoother. Seriously, I still hate the new God of War for how janky its animations felt.
