He's specifically showing that off because the TAS has to be played on emulator; the fact that disc based games have variable loading times means that it's almost impossible for a TAS to be run on those consoles.

100% means getting all the A-ranks and then beat super hard mode, and the WR all A ranks (without super hard mode!) is 8 hours and 45 minutes or so

The TAS they are chasing was designed for RTA. There are faster TAS runs of smb that use human impossible techniques (pressing left and right on the same frame)

@@Subpar1224 They are close to a TAS designed specifically to mimic human possible inputs. The actual fastest TAS of that game is well ahead of what's possible for a human. This will be universally true for any game, there's no debating that. Many things TAS software does are too perfect to ever be incorporated into any type of human input, we're simply too slow.

This TAS just goes to show how long it can take to fully understand the mechanics of a game! The difference between the knowledge base of communities like Mario Bros or Sonic 1 compared to Heroes is astounding. Still really amazing TAS and hopefully someday we can discover ways of allowing human players to perform some of these tricks!

TAS's do get compared to human speedruns when they are ment to show what the "possible" human limit of s game could be. HOWEVER they do NOT compete against each other and are generally used to help with referencing and implementing new strategies that may be viable for real time runs.
