When you look past their flaws, even games like Sonic Forces, Sonic 06, and Sonic Boom look good while doing a speedrun... I mean they were already short and/or glitchy as hell... It's perfect for speedrunning in a sense...

Forces ain't the best, but it also isn't the worst. I don't rank it down on that same level as Sonic Boom RoL or Sonic 06, but I'd say it's more in the range where games like Sonic Heroes, Lost World, and Unleashed (I know people really like Unleashed and Heroes, but those games are in the middle for me tbh. To me, at least Forces doesn't take forever to simply get to the end due to filler content. Not saying Forces is worth that price they're asking for either.)

This applies to both episodes of Sonic 4 as well. Their mechanics, physics and some of the priorities behind the level design aren't the best, but the level design isn't bad at all and the air dash alongside the different routes allow for a lot of cool speedruns imo

I was honestly surprised to see this become part of the event. This was good fun, truly impressive to see some incredible skips pulled off given the suffocating nature of the levels. Also, was it just me, or did I witness slowdown by the game as it was trying to maintain all of the, uh, high-speed action? Is Sonic Forces really a well-oiled machine...? I've changed my opinion on this game thanks to watching speedruns of it and giving it a replay. This is probably right up there with Generations for me, now that I've learned to stop worrying and love the drill. (To be clear, writing has never been part of my assessment of a Sonic game. At least as of now, the writing is an excuse to get you to go fast in the next stage.)
