Sonic Mania Plus - Sonic+Tails Good Ending Speedrun in

Nailed the 47:xx that I wanted. Undecided if I want to keep pushing this, but man this category has been really fun, especially with all the attention it's been getting lately from other runners. 46:xx is up in the air, who knows when that time will ever happen.
What version of Sonic Mania is this?
This is the latest version of the game that introduced Mighty/Ray into the game. Being played on PC/Steam.
How do you Mach 3 instantly in Special Stages?
On the Steam version of Sonic Mania Plus, if you press Y/Triangle on the controller, you instantly increase Mach. This seems to be a developer oversight, and since its easily accessible to anyone who plays on Steam, it's allowed.
Why is the Super Sonic theme not playing when you transform?
By inputting 6214 on Sound Test in the Level Select menu disables the super music, and keeps the level music playing.

There is also strong evidence that the background colors in the blue spheres special stages are supposed to match the background colors of the regular levels, so, special stage 5, since it doesn't really represent a specific stage, it could be flying battery. Ergo, flying battery was supposed to be part of the original sonic 3 levels.

In recent days I've come to appreciate Sonic 2 and 3 far more than Mania. But I am still glad we got Mania and what it still delivers is more great Classic Sonic fun. I can only hope Sega will squeeze out another game like this one day.

@Wreday Firstly, they're original games following an original sequence of events. The world is original. The story is original. So originality is a big reason, lol. I also prefer the spritework for Sonic and Co if that makes ANY sense. Mania has the edge in fluidity and animation but suffers from some "cutesy" style animation I simply don't like. In the Classic games, Sonic is, what I think, the right shade of blue. Tails is the right color of Orange, Knuckles the right color of Red. Sonic doesn't do that stupid anime bug-eyed animation when he looks up, too. Stages just look cleaner overall, while Mania kinda has this "fan made" look to it sometimes. So there's aesthetics being better, imo. Although Mania will occasionally win out in that way with some stages. I don't have any issue with Mania in terms of controls, but I kinda like the FEELING of 2 and 3 better. More 3 than 2, tho. 2 still has that dumb jump lock issue, but I have learned to deal with that. The sense of speed I think is conveyed more in 2 and 3. Knuckles controls better as well, is snappier to glide around with. I also like the stages better in 2 and 3 all around. Their are a lot of weak spots in Mania imo. I don't like Hydrocity as much as 3. I don't like Flying Battery 2 at all, and Mirage Saloon 1. I don't like Titanic Monarch as a whole. I don't really think Mania has a good stage layout in general. Green Hill again, Chemical Plant again, Oil Ocean again, etc. There are just not enough good picks for what they were going for. Their are also bosses that drag on and aren't really fun to fight (like Studiopolis 1's boss). It slows the game down for me a little bit, which I can't say about 2 and 3.

​​@@tnt5320I think 2 has excellent stage design. Arguably better than 3 even, but I consider them roughly the same quality. Also I know 2's controls aren't as good as 3s, but the sense of speed you can get from it when things get going is pretty satisfying

How do you do the button mashing for the spindash?

press the jump buttons one after the other in quick succesion and charge the spindash 6 times, so press each of the 3 buttons twice in total to get max speed

He's pressing the equivalce of the xbox controller's Y button (D button on his controller) to increase his match without the orbs. It's a thing the devs accidentally left in after an update. Fun fact this only works on the steam version.
