Sonic mania is what got me into sonic. And listening to the final boss theme of mania before I played it was what got me interested in this game and trying it out. 6 years later. I am now a full sonic fan. I love mania and I will always remember it for being the reason I love sonic so much today.

Idk why but this track releasing a couple months before superstars comes out makes me feel like this is passing down the torch to the next classic sonic game. Also I’m crying rn, sonic mania is one of the first games that truly stuck with me, I would not be the gamer I am today had not been for that game. Even though people don't like Mania as much as they did back when it came out (which I can somewhat comprehend), it still feels like such an special game, it truly feels like a celebration of what made Sonic so amazing; even though it aims to revive the classic 2D games and reused old levels, it still feels so unique; this is a feeling I can't get from Superstars. Sonic Mania made people not hate Sonic for a second, and I think it was the beginning of a new era for the franchise.

I discovered Sonic about 3 years ago. Ever since I played and finished the originals (the remakes of 1, 2 and CD, and the Steam version of 3), I've never tired of this series of games. There was something magical, catchy and fascinating about their music. I wanted to go further, and it was really Sonic that made me want to get into music programming, knowing that I'd already been playing the synthesizer since I was a kid. Then one day, I got Sonic Mania Plus for Christmas. And honestly, when I played it, I was blown away by the game itself and by its music. It filled me with joy when I learned that the game was originally and mainly developed by fans of the series, and reinforced my motivation in musical programming. Hearing this music now makes me want to say a thousand thanks to you, Tee, for composing for this game, and for everything you do and have done. You're a real source of inspiration and motivation for me. I'm sure Sonic Superstars will be a masterpiece too!

Sonic Mania was among the last few games I sincerely enjoyed before Forces had disappointed me so much that I'd entered a total burnout on video games in general, which lasted until 2022 when I'd given Xenoblade DE enough time to really hook me and restore my love for gaming. I'm just glad Mania was able to make its way into those final few experiences before the burnout and that something hadn't already burned me out of gaming before Forces did. This unused track, though I'm only just hearing it for the first time now, brought back all my fond memories of my time with Mania. That game got me into Tee Lopes' music, as well as Tyson Hesse's art, any future game Christian Whitehead had in store (said game now known to be Penny's Big Breakaway), and any future game Simon Thomley had in store (that game being Pier Pressure)

When this game launched 6 years ago, I took the day off from work. I made it a point to go on a media blackout for months beforehand so nothing was spoiled and I could go into the game fresh. After the speedy download and the classic “SEGA!” logo jingle, I was greeted with the beautifully animated title screen and the wonderful main theme. But what got me most, and nearly drove me to emotional tears of happiness, was when I got to the file select screen and heard Sunshine Cassette for the first time. I was in awe with how much care, attention, and LOVE had already gone into the presentation and music up to that point that I just set the controller down…and listened. This is one of my most cherished games of all time, and a MAJOR part of that is because of the beautiful soundtrack. Thank you so much, Tee Lopes.
