59:00 I was the same. I only had the original Sonic 3 as a kid, so I went my whole life without knowing how to break those rocks. Twenty years later, I finally played Knuckles' story in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and it blew my mind to learn there was another route hidden in the level I'd played a thousand times. And it had always existed there, even though Knuckles wasn't playable yet in the original.

59:01 No, actually. That's Knuckles. You use Knuckles to break the rocks. He has his own routes. Also, during the 4th special stage, what you do is loop around the squares of blue spheres, and then they'll turn into rings.

About the question regarding boss health: Standard bosses have 8hp (Eight hits), however there are some exceptions. Sonic CD bosses have 1 to 4, and the sonic 2 final boss has 12hp.

So Here's The Thing; S1 Bosses Are 6 Hits, Except The Final One Which Is 8, CD Bosses Are 1 - 6 Depending On The Boss, S2 Bosses Are 8 Hits, But The Final One Is 12, S3 Mini Bosses Are 4 - 6 Depending On Which One, S3 Main Bosses Are 8, Including The Final Boss, S&K Mini Bosses Are 6 To A Whopping 16 Depending On The Boss, S&K Main Bosses Are About 8 - 10 Depending On The Boss. Idk How Much Hits It Takes For The Normal Final Boss (DEZ2) And Idk How Much For Doomsday Zone

it's always fun to see how people play one of my fav sonic games, sonic 2. alot of people don't get enough emeralds before the last stage to even experience super sonic, and the ones that do, get it pretty close to the end. it's hard to pull off but you can get enough emeralds to be super sonic in the first two zones, then you can fly through chemical plant and onwards as super sonic. sonic has always been "just have some fun" tho so either way is just as awesome

Not sure if you know this, but in the Blue Sphere stages, you can turn the blue spheres into rings by walking around the corners of the square or rectangle.

Sonic CD is probably mid as a Sonic game, but pretty much because of 2 things: 1: The visuals and audio are good, but it's very much to taste - it doesn't quite have the same broad appeal as Sonic 1 or 2. 2: The game asks very different things of the player than Sonic 1 or 2. This is the reason I see this game as divisive. For some people this is the perfect storm for a unique, engaging and repayable platformer. For others, this game is a garish and clunky continuation of Sonic 1. For others still, some bits are palettable and some bits are inexcusable. I guess I just count myself lucky that I've always loved the look and sound of this game, and I've recently clicked with this game's level design and what it asks of the player.

I’ve looked it up, apparently the popstar sega couldn’t get the rights from is Michael Jackson. I doubt it honestly, but if it is true i can definitely hear that in the music, specifically mushroom hill and hydrocity Edit: to clarify, allegedly Michael Jackson composed the soundtrack for this game, but sega couldn’t get the rights so they had to redo the soundtrack. I'm not 100% sure Sega couldn't get the rights to MJ, considering he was in the music composition process behind Sonic 3 & Knuckles along with Brad Buxer. Also, Michael basically used his own unreleased song, “Stranger In Moscow” for the credits music for Sonic The Hedgehog 3, which is pretty rad.
