I for real believe that, instead of stretching this out, they could’ve tied it up in a perfect little bow by just making it a Netflix movie for the end of the series. That would do wonders for the pacing also, I think. Because they lost their mind making it all pure action. Some of the best parts were the character moments, but it’s so spread out and takes so long to get to you slowly lose interest. But yeah, they relied way too heavily on action this season, and it turned into rinse and repeat until it’s time for a story moment.

I think a missed opportunity would be to bring the emeralds to the table, like seriously imagine a prismatic Nine vs Super sonic. I felt like that would be a interesting finale considering we already got prismatic sonic. Also felt like Nine's villain time went for too long considering at the end it literally took talking to him to stop him, only for Sonic to do what he was trying to avoid..like...seriously?

Yeah, I kinda assumed nine was gonna get an actual form when they went up there. But nine just ended up not even doing anything except making robots to fight them. Someone like nine, who's done stuff himself for so long its weird to see him so reliant on robots instead of combat. Also, we never even got to see a full prismatic sonic transformation only with like a few shards

Also, I know the prism was unstable because of the lacking power but SERIOUSLY, if one share can power an entire city (new yoke) then I think all of them combined could do more. Nine spent like the entirety of its power on thousands of robots. It's weird he didn't just give up the grim walls and use it all. I'll give props though, nine did directly say at the end of s2 that using the power on yourself is risky, but nine should've just done it

It would be completely reasonable at that stage for him to overdue the charge and he absorbs it's power transforming him. From what I've seen on Twitter, season 3 is the culmination of every single problem I've had with Sonic Prime since season 1. Boring one-note characters with little depth, repetitive writing that makes it really frustrating to binge the show, and locations that are horribly bland and uninteresting. It is truly a shame that this show really couldn't find its footing in the end, not even for the people who have liked it since the beginning.

Sonic had his cool moments, but I was frustrated at *how many times* he kept getting his ass kicked, beaten down, falling on his face, etc. and... just NOT learning from it. There were so many times where he would take a hit or fall from a high place and just land face first on the floor, even in moments where that wouldn't normally happen with his character otherwise. Even the Netflix After School channel uploaded a "Sonic Fall Counter" video and it amounted to 109 times (which is insane for a 24 episode series 💀). His stubbornness reared its ugly head in literally every aspect of his character in this series, and it's like the writers intentionally dumbed him down so he could "be more relatable to kids" when that was never an issue with Sonic prior.

I agree with everything you said, but there's one problem I also had with the series in general. I felt like sonic was weak. Like, MAD weak throughout. I don't have a problem with him struggling here and there, but mans was getting washed or had to be saved in almost every fight he was in, especially when it wasn't a generic robot. And I think it may have been the worst this season. I don't remember him taking down any major robots this season and he was still getting bailed constantly. There's no way prime sonic and game sonic, who's been fighting solo for several games against worse odds, are the same character.

8:45 I agree so hard about Nine. I think he had a good reason to want to do what he did which is why it felt so weird that Sonic just...didn't listen to him. For some reason he doesn't figure out that Nine wanted to make a plane for the two of them until he sees the palm trees in the very last episode which is why I feel like we hear the "this isn't you" line so much cuz he genuinely doesn't understand. I get that Sonic was so concerned about Green Hill that he didn't consider his perspective at first but it takes him far too long to figure that out and by the time he does he can't actually have a conversation with Nine because the show's over. They tried to have both the climatic fight and the reasoning argument at the same time but spent so much time on the fight that nothing truly feels resolved and that's a real bummer. EDIT: Also there's a point in the fight where Sonic jokes that he fell off and "splats" which is funny but also...isn't Sonic trying to reason with him? Or is he trying to win? I think that's probably a big thing with this Sonic too, it's not even clear what Sonic actually wants to do or what the win condition is for our heroes. It's just a muddy and confused fight from start to finish.

I will say that while season three wasn’t the best, the other two seasons of prime were honestly pretty good. I just wish they kept that same momentum of quality, at least to me, throughout the rest of season three, which I thought started off quite strong.

Well, to tell you this, Ian Flynn has made his tweets on Twitter once Sonic Prime is over, he stated that Sonic Prime takes place some time after Sonic Advance 3(Yes, I said Some time after, not directly after it), but that's not all. He follows up that this also covers Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors, given Orbot and Cubot's appearance. Plus, Ian Flynn also said that he's not the one to choose to make Sonic Prime canon, and he was only a Story Consultant for the show itself. Also, the man behind the show(kinda forgot his name) made a clarification about the whole missing episode 8th situation. He stated that Episode 1 in the First Season were supposedly 2 episodes put together in 1 Episode. Also, that cliffhanger ending for Season 3 is always meant Sonic is off to his next adventure.

I honestly ended up liking season 3 more during a re-watch cos the context of what was happening as a result of each wave and the overall plan Sonic and Co. had to win the fight made it much more enjoyable. Got to sit back and properly admire the kickass animation and character moments when they happened. It's such a gorgeously made show it's such a shame to kick it down due to ending issues. It's entertainment, and all the best parts from season 1 to 3 made it a good experience personally to me regardless of the quick ending. Shout out to the well made 3d models, crazy animation and gorgeous lighting/compositing. Such a treat to the eye

I think Sonic prime was alright. i think i'll rewatch everything as a whole at some point. Prime had some good moments and I do like Sonic's arc. Sonic doesn't cry but you can defeintly see his exhaustion, guilt, and sadness. But the best characters are Nine and Shadow. Sonic and Shadow's interactions are near perfection. The ending just felt abrupt.

This isn't you Fadel 😔 But nah for real, season 3 was so repetitive and nonsensical, I wasn't uninterested per say, but definitely disappointed after the highs of season 2. It would have been a lot better if they waited until Nine made more progress in his transformation of the Grim and had a more diverse and interesting collection of robots and inventions to go along with it, something powerful enough to warrant bringing back Prime Sonic's transformation. But no, it was just a meaningless song and dance of generic robot battles in a generic wasteland with an unsatisfying ending. I didn't hate season 3 necessarily since it had some good character moments with Shadow, the Amy sisters, the jungle Tails, etc and the buildup from the first couple episodes was decently enjoyable, but it was definitely a letdown overall and characters like Sonic and the Chaos Council stuck out like a sore thumb as being annoying. Man.

I liked season 3 (barely) and this whole show, but I don’t blame anyone for hating it. Because man, it has a lot of problems. Literally season 3 was just: Sonic: “nine, this isn’t you, you’re my best friend let’s stop this together” Nine: no let’s fight *A world war starts* Sonic: “I don’t wanna fight you nine, you’re my best friend let’s stop this together” Nine: no let’s fight *the world war continues* Shadow: “Sonic he’s not your friend” Sonic: “yes he is” Nine “no I’m not let’s fight” *the world war continues* Sonic: “nine you’re my best friend let’s stop this together” Nine: ok THE END Yeah I agree with you. Literally this whole season is just going back and forth, having a war that lasts for the whole darn series, and then just resolving the whole thing in less than 2 minutes with a hammock and Sonic’s infamous “this isn’t you nine” lines. It’s like drawing a circle but instead of drawing a circle you draw a squiggly line… a *very* squiggly line. And again, it’s so repetitive. The robots appear, they defeat the robots, they come back, the heroes have an inspirational moment and defeat the robots again, they come back, the heroes have ANOTHER inspirational moment and defeat them, but uh oh look they’re back AGAIN! *WHO WOULD’VE SEEN THAT COMING?!* Overall I give the season a VERY GENEROUS 5.8/10. The only things carrying this are the animation (WHICH IS THE BEST PART), Shadow, and the cool scenes. Sonic was so weak and naive, Nine felt like wasted potential, especially since he literally ruled the universe and all he could do was spawn robots?! Shadow was cool but was unfortunately pushed to the side, the story went to go jump off a cliff, the Chaos Council was so infuriating, and so much more. It left me with more questions than answers. It makes me sad too, because I stayed up until 3 am because I was hyped to watch this as soon as it came out. It had the potential to be the best Sonic show ever, especially with how they set up the end of season 2. TLDR: NINE! THIS ISN’T YOU, YOU’RE MY BEST FRIEND! WE CAN STOP THIS, TOGETHER! __________________________ However, I rate the show as a whole a 6-7/10. It’s a mixed bag. Had some great highs, and some disappointing lows, but overall, I don’t think it outright SUCKS. It’s just good at best. I don’t care about where it is in the canon though.

I finished watching this yesterday and told myself "Yeah that is pretty much what I was expecting from the finale", but then the next day I started really thinking about things and yeah, this finale is not the best thing in the world. The never ending robot waves were so damn boring, Sonic was always trying to get Nine to change despite he clearly not wanting to stop and hurting the other characters, only for then to have a random change of heart at the end. And also the prism Super Form, I actually had completely forgot about that, now I'm really sad they didn't do anything with it. Apart from those gripes, I was having a lot of fun watching this season, and only after I was done, did I really think about how it could've been so much better.

I really love this season, the fights were great, characters interactions and moments. The pacing wasn’t really the issue for me, I had fun all the way through. The ending isn’t really an issue ethier. Even if it does feel a little rushed and somewhat disappointing, I still love the show a lot. To me this is the best show, better than x, boom, adventure. It’s just pack with action, comedy, and great character interactions. Nine was a great villain, and I loved the dynamic between Sonic and Nine. It’s just crazy for me to see people say it’s garbage or it’s the worst show, just because of pacing and how it ended. It’s not perfect but it’s still great to watch. I can’t see how you can see all those great moments in the show and say it’s trash. For in my opinion It’s an 8 out of 10 OVERALL. I can definitely rewatch this but I can see why people don’t like parts of it but it’s not garbage. But that’s just me

Honestly, I enjoyed this season for what it was. Definitely the worst out of them all but I can't really call it bad. It's just okay to me. And I guess that's the difference because I wasn't really all the high on the seasons before it. There's a lot about it I enjoy a lot, and there's stuff that's clearly just bad. You could easily tell when the writers had to randomly put in an excuse to keep the story going. What I will say is I wish Nine actually decided to fight himself towards the end using Prism's powers. It would've made Sonic using the Prism possible, we could see Nine actually interact with the other characters as he beats them up, AND Sonic can actually beat him up before he hits him with the "ITS NOT YOU NINE" spiel. It's also entirely possible Sega would've shut this down if they didn't want to give any Tails a super form but let's ignore that annoying tidbit. There's a lot I would personally change about this season, but I think if you walk in with regular expectations you can have a bit of fun. I'm happy it's doing well. I feel like in general I have less complaints about the recent adaptations than a lot of other people do.

I didn’t watch this vid yet, but I will in a little. Let me just say this first (even if you are not specifically talking about this). This is what I think, you are free to think whatever you want. Especially if I am wrong in anything (regarding facts not opinions) Personally, I enjoyed it. I do agree the fight scenes were dragged on. But the trailer didn’t rlly show anything else besides fighting. So it was to be expected:3 Also, it was to be expected as the fights in the 2 batches were also dragged on in my opinion:3 Shadow being less involved should have been expected too, because the last two batches (or seasons whatever you want to call them) he shown up only in a few eps at the beginning and end:3 We have to remember that batches 1-3 were all together. Technically they are all s1 (I’m pretty sure). They’re just split it up, so possibly/probably they didn’t have time to decide this recently or they couldn’t fix anything in time after the success of the first two batches. But idk if this would imply for Sonic prime (This is just what I think) So just because the games are canon to Sonic prime. That doesn’t mean that Sonic Prime is canon to the games. Meaning that the games could affect Sonic Prime and the events mentioned happened for Sonic prime. But that doesn’t mean that the things in Sonic prime ever took place in the games. Like Prime Sonic and game Sonic aren’t the same Sonic. They had similar events in the past. But that doesn’t mean they are in the same timeline :3 (Kinda like how after the split of IDW and Archie Sonic happened. Similar events, but ended up being two different timelines) For all we know. The games events happened for the show. While the show cannot affect the games. Like the show can be canon to its own universe while not affecting anything to the game:3

I mean...the final battle did go on for way too long, on that i can agree. But i love the character interactions, animation, and especially Shadows Performance. Honestly, if the final battle was 2 episodes MAX and instead we got more focus on Sonic saving people as their dimensions are destroyed, that would've fit a lot better. A nice epilogue showing the Shatterspace versions going back to their lives as normal would've been a better send off too.

Well, for me the show is an 7/10, I didn't think it was a masterpiece but it's also not as bad as some are saying, of course everyone's opinion varies but I agree that the first and second batch of episodes were very good but the third one was a bit dragging with some fights that just they understood what could be resolved by getting straight to the point, maybe if it was shorter it could be a little better due to a more dynamic rhythm, now summarizing a few points: regarding Sonic's characterization I didn't see many problems because it's a show for children too and in my opinion it doesn't make sense to do a story of growth and maturity if the character is already mature from the beginning (I mean, there are other ways of doing this but they opted for the basics and making Sonic more childish and immature ) about the show being canon, maybe they did it to give Prime some relevance, but do you want to know the truth? it doesn't matter, as Ian said in his post it doesn't matter because the Prime goes off with a soft reset and only Sonic and Shadow remember what happened and in the end everything remains unaffected including the games, so if you liked it and want to consider canon ok you can do this and put it at some point after Advance 3 (I personally put it between Colors and Lost World, more before Colors) but if you didn't like it and think it doesn't make sense, ok also just ignore it and consider as a separate thing because again this doesn't affect the games or the IDW comics in any way (maybe that's why the show doesn't have as many connections to the games, as a precaution) in the end I don't think Prime was bad, the ideas and concepts were good and what ended up getting in the way was the way the script was worked because you could see that the idea and concepts had potential, in the end Prime is a good show for you to follow without much commitment and this opens up opportunities so that in the future they can try a new animation, whether in 2D or 3D, but with the team responsible for the animated openings and prologue animations (like Marza Animations, Tyson Hesse, Ian Flynn and etc) as many fans have been asking for a long time

Hey gamescage, I might do a bigger comment another time cuz i know ur busy and probably wont read ALL my thoughts on Prime. But my important one for now is Shadow. Despite what most people think, I think Shadow got a good amount of screentime, he doesnt need to interact with everyone its not his style and HE didn't need to learn a real lesson here. Now he couldve been better used for this last season but thats this season as a whole. Lets be happy Prime gave us the best Shadow we've had in years where he feels like an "Anti-Hero Sonic" Again. Also, Can we talk and nerd out about how this is I think the FIRST TIME SHADOW PUSHED HIS OWN SPEED FOR A BOOST to this level?! He's NEVER done this before and its always nice seeing more proof of "Shadow's just a bit slower than sonic these days." I just wish his rings came off.

After an epic Season 2, I too was really disappointed in Season 3 for the reasons you mentioned. But also, I was really disappointed in Nine as a villain! With Nine being the "how powerful and dangerous would Tails be if he didn't have Sonic to inspire and ground him" character, he just wasn't a great villain. He could have tricked (this) Sonic easily, manipulating him into a trap, or more puzzle like things. Instead it was "ARGH!! MORE POWER, MORE ROBOTS!" up to the end, and the robots weren't even original for some reason - he just expanded on the Mr. Doctor Eggman's Chaos Sonic idea, only without the fun! All for Sonic to do the thing he wanted in at the beginning of the Season, while being able to do what Sonic asked for at the beginning of the series...huh? All which could have been done with a "hey, maybe we can have both" lol. I definitely wanted to see some epic Super Forms....Super Prism Sonic vs Super Prism Nine, omg!!! Oh well. I really liked the 1st and 2nd Seasons, but that 3rd Season was a downer... I still give the show a 7/10, because at least the first 2 Seasons were really fun, and I liked Season 1 and 2 Sonic...as well as Shadow, Knux, and the Rose Sisters!

I honestly couldn't help but compare the interaction between sonic and Nines with Sonic and Merlina from Black Knight. Both Nines and Merlina were hurting on the inside and while Sonic understood that from the start, in BK it didnt stop him from taking action. Where in Prime all actions he did led to "talk-no-jutsu" I think what's worse about Sonic from season 3 is that he recognizes that he needed to do something, which is why he plans to sacrifice himself. His friends and Eggmen show up not wanting to sacrifice himself and he then decides to fight. But then him not trying to end the fight actively puts his friends in danger against the grim bots.

Since I watched the episodes spaced out I didn't realize how LONG the Grim War was. But I think you surmised it perfectly. The robots were DEFINITELY over played. I feel like it would've been interesting to have "grim" versions of the characters created by Nine to fight the others. And not mention would get some REALLY great character moments out of it and I think that was Primes strength was it's characters. And season 3 being eh aside, the rush to get Sonic back to Green Hill was great imo. How all his friends basically helped him when his feet could barely work, and kept him moving. That was LOVELY. AND THE FACT THAT SHADOW WAS THE LAST ONE TO HELP AAAAA but all aside, eh season, pretty good show overall. can't wait for the Knuckles series and SONIC 3!!

Over all I give Sonic Prime a 7/10 The story could have been a bit darker in my opinion. Like Sonic X dark. The voice acting was amazing but the script was not great. If they are going to say this show is canon they should have had more stuff in it to prove it's in the main timeline. Now about it being canon. Personally I don't want this show to be canon. I originally wanted it to but looking back at it no it's bad I don't want this to be in the main timeline. Honestly I think Sonic Team and the Lore counsel of Sonic is doing a terrible job with not only managing the lore but also saying what is canon and what isn't canon. They're just slapping that "It's canon" Sticker on it not giving it any second thought. You wanna know why I think Zelda has been doing so much better than Sonic? Because the Zelda Team actually is taking the effort to create a wonderful story and making sure everything lines up perfectly. Sega and Sonic Team do the complete opposite. Their timeline and list of canon things is a coloring page that has scribbles all over it and sometimes colors in the lines compared to Zelda's timeline that can be compared to a coloring page with lots of colors and that has been colored in the lines perfectly. Sonic Team needs to do better.

I loved this season for the characters and their interactions, also Sonic fading/dying scene - I loved how they all took care of our hero, it was very sweet. But like… that’s it. The happy ending was pretty obvious and we all knew who would win, cause come on. There wasn’t too much surprise there. The whole season felt like a one, too long fight scene and the action got boring after a while. Had fun but not enough to watch it again 🤷🏻‍♀️ And it being for kids - I agree. I think most kids shows nowadays have this problem, where they treat kids like idiots. The cartoons used to be more… serious and we were fine! Sonic X or even TMNT from 2003, it used to be quite dark and it was cool. Not to sound like an old hag but they really don’t make shows like they used to…

They definitely dropped the ball with the last season. There are definitely some good things in here but it feels like it could’ve been more. Like i feel like The steaks weren’t high enough in the final battle. it’s just a lot of back-and-forth. We have the upper hand. He has the upper hand, and nothing is gained, and nothing is lost and I just felt like filler at that point. Like, maybe some of the characters could’ve been evaporated when they got pushed out of the force field. And when sonic sees it, it hits him hard because he feels responsible. Causing him to get more desperate and angry at nine. Because sonic knows nine has the only power to bring them back And it feels more personal. I could go on, i’m just imagining. but the main problem I have is with the last episode doesn’t feel like a final episode. We had five episodes of build up for sonic and nine to come face to face and I felt like they didn’t try to do anything special it. It felt so rushed and forced with nine switching up on a dime. Like sonic gave the most generic speech ever and nine was like (oh, you’re right) like WHAT?! COME ON! It didn’t feel like it wasn’t a good enough reason for nine to switch up that fast. Like nine’s whole thing is that he doesn’t have a real home. Like what happens to nine now? Is he back to being alone or did he go with knuckles and rouge? We don’t know. I feel like they could’ve explained or shown what happens to them when they go back to their own worlds. And finally after three seasons Sonic finally reunites with his original friends. And I feels like not a big deal. Like my friends are back YAY! like that’s it. Like after all we’ve been through Sonic doesn’t even have a moment with tails? like does sonic feel deeper or more understanding of tails after the adventures he had? I could go on and on, but it would be too much to explain. Overall season three felt rushed with the ending and a few unanswered questions and the pacing all over the place and I feel like it would’ve been better if they actually made Sonic prime was written, more cleverly or more maturely. So yeah 1 1/2 out of 5.

Nine was my real standout for this series, best character as far as development by FAR! He was the only character (imo) that made you FEEL and UNDERSTAND him, and I'm glad he's ok (hopefully). But they fumbled the bag with this final season, and it just makes you wonder "what could've been..."

Having the first two seasons being an entire EXPLORATION and DISCOVERY of various worlds and characters really makes Season 3's focus on a single battlefield / location look really bad. I understand that they were trying to do some Return of the King-esque finale, but this season really should've been a movie. This season really dragged, like we were running around in circles with the fights and who had the upper hand to a point of redundancy (it's a shame that I became more indifferent to the honestly amazing action / animation). I still love Shadow and the Amy Trio though, GOATED characters.

I think as a whole this season cooked the long term reception of sonic prime. The ending of a show has to stick the landing it’s the last thing we see it’s the last impression we get. Shows sink or swim in the long term if an ending is satisfying. This wasn’t it and ultimately the end of the journey wasn’t satisfying so what’s the point of watching about aging that ending can devalue a whole show and I think that’s what will happen here. In 1 to 2 years when sonic prime is mentioned I don’t believe it will be in a favorable light

Its sad that this is how it ends, I had so much faith and then I watched it and I shit you not it just felt like the last arc of Naruto. Like it was all I could think about. I feel unironically this season's pro's, aside from animation and certain action scenes, were just character moments. Shadow and Nine, especially. Aside from that, I felt like I wasted around two hours of my evening a few days ago. It also stings that this was somehow supposed to tie to game, mainline Sonic, but nothing literally happened to build on that.

Like the first 2 seasons were really boring to me, with how lame the plot and characterizations were, and the only parts I consistently enjoyed were the fight scenes. That said, even though I can admit Season 3 somehow was worse than the other 2, it still is probably my favorite because it was just dumb fun, for me anyways. You've said it the best, the story could've been wrapped up in 12 episodes. Season 2 was great but gosh season 1 and 3 were repetitive as hell. That's the reason that I genuinely can't rewatch the show except for some few episodes. The rest would just straight up bore me which is a shame because of how fantastic the animation, voice acting, fight choreography, and certain characters like Shadow and Rusty Rose are.
