Personally, I think Sonic R is a bit underrated. It's not as bad as some people make it seem. Granted the controls could've used some refining, but it was still an interesting concept.

To fly as tails, you need to press the jump button in midair and hold the button for him to keep flying. Kinda like knuckles’ glide but you don’t descend while holding the button (or until he gets tired)

Hidden in the races are 5 sonic tokens, if you collect all 5 in a race and place in the top 3 to race the unlockable characters. If you win, you keep the character. For super sonic, After getting all 7 emeralds you highlight sonic then press up

There’s another emerald on the boat with the ring gate in chemical plant, it gets shot out of the hole on the top. You need to get all the emeralds to get Super Sonic and you have to press down while the cursor is on sonic
