The thing about the last four level mods are that they were made from much earlier in the Modding Community's history. While they're fun, they are still held back by more primitive level design sensibilities. You could tell by the amount of the level you just hold the boost button in, the weirdly textured geometry, and the oversaturation of rings in some places.

I'm running into so many smaller creators lately, though I'm pretty small as well. This was SUCH a good video, the jokes hit their mark, the reviews themselves were great and unbiased, and it just goes to show that sometimes being simple is more. Frontiers comes out tomorrow...and goodness me, I certainly hope it's good, lol.

Ngl, Shivery Mountainsides feels like the natural evolution of sonic as a series. The way you play through the stage while also having this cartoony, yet "realistic" setting makes it feel so grounded compared to modern sonic games where everything is... Grass with square shaped earth underneath.

Crashed cove actually looks like a reimagined 3D version of Palmtree Panic from sonic CD. The logs, the rocks and enemies, and the artificial looking trees are all straight form palmtree panic. The only element that isn’t from sonic CD seems to be those sloped ship things, which look like they’re from either sonic advance or inspired by sonic 2 wing fortress or marina madness from knuckles chaotix.

The title caught my attention, but the video narration and the editing made me stay, very nice mod list as well. I would recommend checking out *"Sonic Unleashed: Redux"* by Dexterity or *"Sonic Unleashed: The Complete Addon"* for a more faithful Unleashed Experience in Generations. Also all the extra moveset mods (SA2 Bounce, Unleashed Sweepkick, SA2 Spindash, Double Jump) because they make the game completely different by adding some old Sonic moves.

Frontiers feels familiar yet not at all in the later stages, they start to get further and further away from the level design of the original source material until its almost unrecognizable, along with using the city theme more since it's a mesh of every city sonic has ever been in and makes it even harder to tell exactly where you recognize things from

Regarding Tropical Resort, I'm actually one of the people that helped make a suggestion during its development. In an earlier version of the levels, brianuuu (the mod creator) used Egg Springs in a section that was originally meant for Laser Wisp, forcing the player to do some platforming on that part. I told him "Why not just use regular springs to emulate the trajectory of the Laser Wisp?" to which he completely agreed with me. Something that simple felt pretty obvious for making alternatives to Wisps that aren't in Generations, but it seems like it was a sign for later level designs to come.

A sonic 3D maker would mean they’d have to design the creator in a way that makes it easy to design and make levels, but also complicated tools that let people make really advanced levels. Along with that just…. They’d have to make it perfect. So nothing goes wrong when making levels.
