Sonic Frontiers comes out very soon and to quench my immaculate thirst I play some Generations level mods that soothe the soul. Not much else to say that's just what happens. How was your day?

they're actually a Double Jump mod for Generations, and a Sonic 06 Moveset mod, and a Mario 64 Moveset mod EDIT: the Final Rush design is based off the Sonic World Fan Game one, which meshes nicely with Generations

The part in Sunset Heights that isn't in the original stage is actually from the Avatar / Episode Shadow Sunset Heights stage. Neat addition.

The thing about the last four level mods are that they were made from much earlier in the Modding Community's history. While they're fun, they are still held back by more primitive level design sensibilities. You could tell by the amount of the level you just hold the boost button in, the weirdly textured geometry, and the oversaturation of rings in some places.

Sonic World DX and SRB2 is the closest you would get to a 3D Sonic Maker, even if the custom level creation isn't done in game.

That quartz stage is very beautiful. It reminds me of 5 Sonic Stages: Quartz Quadrant from Sonic CD, The inferno mine stage from Sonic Advance 2, a little bit of Hill Top Zone from Sonic 2, and Final Egg and the Rocky Mountain volcano prison stage both from Sonic Adventure

I love the Generation mods, it's one of things that made the game extremely replayable. You got everything from Unleashed being ported to Sonic 06. Some of these "fan-made" levels were incredibly impressive and I'm hyped for what modders can do with Sonic Frontiers.

First of all, this was a great video. I have not tried Generations modding much as I've always mostly just did the adventure games but this video has convinced me to give it a shot. The way you present yourself and the edits are awesome. You've earned a new subscriber. Second, I feel like PC is the definitive way to go with Sonic games at least once the modding scene gets going. They make some truly amazing stuff and I can't wait to see what they do with Frontiers. If only Unleashed and Heroes were properly on Steam.

The title caught my attention, but the video narration and the editing made me stay, very nice mod list as well. I would recommend checking out *"Sonic Unleashed: Redux"* by Dexterity or *"Sonic Unleashed: The Complete Addon"* for a more faithful Unleashed Experience in Generations. Also all the extra moveset mods (SA2 Bounce, Unleashed Sweepkick, SA2 Spindash, Double Jump) because they make the game completely different by adding some old Sonic moves.

Crashed cove actually looks like a reimagined 3D version of Palmtree Panic from sonic CD. The logs, the rocks and enemies, and the artificial looking trees are all straight form palmtree panic. The only element that isn’t from sonic CD seems to be those sloped ship things, which look like they’re from either sonic advance or inspired by sonic 2 wing fortress or marina madness from knuckles chaotix.

Good video, really enjoyed it. Although I completely disagree with your point about Unleashed making the player feel like they're interacting with the world around them. I would say that Generations does a far superior job at making the player feel like they're running through an actual world rather than a bunch of videogame stages. Take for example windmill isle, skyscraper scamper or dragon road. It just kind of feels like you're running across a very linear, designated path through those levels. You don't really run on the mountains in the background or anything like that. Contrast this with Generations, where you interact with the environment much more during gameplay. Like entering the caverns of Green Hill and running away from the big chopper, or taking alternate paths in Seaside Hill and entering the big abandoned temple (or whatever the fuck that's supposed to be.) These sections make the stages feel far more alive and memorable. It also helps that you can very frequently spot alternate pathways in the background, which is yet another thing that makes the stages feel like they exist in an actual world. I don't get that level of 'engagement with the world' in unleashed. There, everything feels far more monotonous and either too cluttered or too empty.
