13:39 fun fact: nIghts Into dreams was the second-to-last game made by the original sonic team, and also their second game, since the only other game previously made by that team was sonic 1, since the team split in half for sonic 2, cd, and 3&k, only coming back together for nIghts and later adventure 1 before oshima and a couple others left, I think that’s why people have a lot of sentimental value for it, as it was one of the few games made by guy, and by extension the team who created sonic.

Glad I'm not the only one that likes having the 3D models on. Legit can't get enough of playing this game with the 3D models on, and I'm glad I'm not the only one that has that as default when playing with Team Sonic. Using the Classic cast's chunky, polygonal models legit makes me feel like I'm playing a long-lost early 3D Sonic game and I freaking love it. Honestly a damn shame in my book that the Metal Knuckles and Tails Doll addons don't have their own 3D models.

​​​​​​@@Matthasnocuts i see..well i hope you like it but one thing i know for sure the level design is nothing like forces(like not even in a slightest) you see the problem with forces was it was too linear(even though they could've made the linear levels more challenging to be less boring sonic forces overclocked is a perfect example for that),too much automation and too short and also the controls sucked too but in shadow generations based on what we have seen from the gameplay footage most of these problems are kinda non-existent.

​​@@SonicFanBoy138 I think shadow generations might define the future of 3D sonic because what they are doing right now specially with the level design is nothing like we've ever seen before it's like they are trying to combine the adventure and generations level design style into one game which if this succeed it might define the course of 3D sonic and also this game continuing the open zone formula which it's a good thing they are sticking with the formula like they promised so that's good so this game is really important because alot frontiers elements has ported into this game too and essentially trying to redefine the open-zone formula and possibly the boost formula too and they're basically continuing what they start with frontiers in shadow generations and that's why this game in my opinion is really important for the series because if this game succeed it might open the door for bigger successful games because ngl it really looks like a high budget, quality game(which I'm not even suprised the game ended up high quality due to the fact that Sega reported they're giving sonic team a higher budget and more manpower for sonic team for the sonic series after the success of frontiers and midori's leak something about sonic pillar team and their quality focus for their annual franchises which is Yakuza,persona and ofc.. sonic) and we're seeing the results right here with shadow generations they are delivering..) and I'm happy about it because I was expecting them t do it

I will say, I like the special stage token system for doing two things NO other Sonic game with a similar end-of-act gimmick does. If you collect more than one token and get an emerald on your first try, you can shoot for the next one right away, and if you miss one, your next token will give you a second chance, all before moving on to the next act. YES, PLZ. These are quality of life touches I feel official games wouldn't consider because it'd be considered "broken" or something.

a funny thing about the special stages, originally they were just like... normal gameplay. It was like a wide-open map with tons of rings, and you'd have to hunt down as many rings as possible in order to get the chaos emerald before the time ran out. If you're playing in multiplayer co-op mode, it still is like this actually, they remade all of the old stages. I think it would be great if they could just like.. give you the option to go into the nights or normal special stages, i think it would fix a lot of issues people have of them.

Fun fact, the "homing attack" in SRB2 doesn't actually home in on enemies in vanilla. If you want to actively bop one you have to steer into them or hold the lock on button (labeled "camera center" in the options menu) when playing with the Simplified control scheme (which is my go to as i play on steam deck)

glad to see you're doing well man, I lost my father a few months after Frontiers came out and during it's marketing cycle is when he was diagnosed with cancer so Frontiers marketing cycle plus the game coming out and it's DLC road map announcement is part of what kept me sane during that time. I felt happy being excited to play frontiers, getting the game, and loving the experience. It felt like my escape from reality and that's why I love the Sonic franchise, it takes me back to being a little kid again.

SRB2 went from "frustrating as heck" to becoming my favorite Sonic fan game. I'm a casual player, so I needed some time to adjust to it's difficulty curve (I even had to write a Lua script to make my life a bit easier, LOL) but now I genuinely LOVE this game. Oh, and if you're reading this and you also find the game quite difficult, I recommend you download SA Sonic mod, he is amazing to play, and he fits perfectly in the base game, makes it a lot more beginner friendly.

4:55 srb2 levels do have loops, you’ll find them frequently in fan made levels although it’s basically an extremely short in-game cutscene where you’ll have no control over what your character does. Check out the oldc levels made by othius. You’ll find them there at least once.

The NiGHTS stages are played in singleplayer, while multiplayer instead has standard stages where the objective is to collect blue spheres using the standard game controls. There's a mod on the MB that lets you play the multiplayer stages solo, so your wish is (kind of) already in the game!

About loops...My dude, before 2019, the game didn't even have SLOPES and thought it was impossible to do. XD I've been a fan of this game since Castle Eggman 2 was a "hunt the button" thing and the final level of the game. Seeing it blossom into what it is today has been incredible. Legit, it's my favourite 3D Sonic game. And that's before the mods (Gods, Shadow is so much fun to mess around with!) Also, it feels so weird to me to see someone playing it with the 3D models on. :P The Sprites seem so much more familiar and expressive that I can't make myself play with the models on! Oh, and if you're into the racing kart game.... You know they made a sequel to that, right? Robotnik's Ring Racers. And it's absolutely insane. There's like a 100 tracks and a metric ton of mechanics (maybe too many mechanics).

notes from someone who's played srb2 for years, will be editing as i watch through the video 1:04 - please turn off "interpolation: always" on your model settings sonic should not be warping like that when he jumps 2:40 - the game wasn't RELEASED in 2019, that release was just yet another update. the first "release" was 2.0 in july 2009, but the game is still not finished 4:23 - as far as i'm aware there are no loops because it's difficult to make them fit in well with the stage layout and also NOT have them automated. people have easily made working loops in the engine, but loops really only work in 2d spaces which srb2 is not. update, dev friend told me that loops are literally impossible without hacks everything in the gameplay section about the physics - srb2 2.3 is going to have a physics rework to make them more accurate to the physics of the genesis sonic games 11:32 - you could say the same thing about the big rings in sonic 3 16:16 - this... is not a loop. that is a tube. anyway loops aren't going to happen, mostly because it would require so many new angles for the sprites that literally nobody would want to do. also loops were only in like two zones in sonic 1 and three zones in sonic 2 loops are NOT necessary at all

I remember playing with some .WADs and custom maps that attempted to make loops back in '05/'06 and it was buggy as hell. Still crazy to see though. Looks like they finally figured it out. That just reminded me of all the custom maps I used to play on, man the community was so fuckin tight. Recreating Mario Kart 64 levels and Sonic Riders... Hide and seek maps were TOP tier. Some people even altered the engine to have a 2D sidescrolling camera with loops, somw emulating og mario. The challenging Mystic Realm maps.. Super Mystic Sonic...The creative people behind this game and its mods are something else, and nostolgia is a helluva drug.

I go out of my way to play Blue Spheres. I also like the Saturn version of the special stages for Sonic 3D Blast. There's something about getting into that flow state playing blue spheres that hits.
