Did you record in 2.2.10 this time? It won't work properly in 2.2.9, as you know from me. There's also a different reward when you collect the Chaos Emeralds instead of a Super form, because Marine can go Super with the Sol Emeralds like Blaze can, and once you get a Sol Emerald from a boss(no damage), it's there for good, even if you reload the game.

I strongly assume that's the idea. Kind of how Ray's playstyle in Mania is clearly cape Mario (at least as far as his gliding is concerned). Having Marine both attack with her tail and hover and even animate like the modern tanuki Mario by running in midair a bit seems so intentional that I wouldn't believe the creator if they said otherwise.
