It's slow and focused more on stealth rather than the usual fast-paced action platformer that Sega's flagship associates with, it's no wonder why it's canned along with Sonic XTreme. People already complain about how slow Sonic 1's gameplay is, especially in Marble Zone and Labyrinth Zone. If you want a stealth game, Sonic isn't for you. I suggest Metal Gear Solid for that matter.

@@mightyfilm That's because they weren't very good. SatAM was alright but I didn't understand why the lead writer on it thought the games weren't interesting enough. It's like all the color from Sonic got drained out in this cartoon. AoSTH may have had worse animation but at least it was done by someone who didn't think the games were a waste of time and it showed. OVA was the best though.

Not just talks. Sonic-16, as the unreleased title was tentatively known, had genuine footage that's been shown online depicting one of the deliberately slower & more time management-based "stealth" missions (view Sonic as if he were Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid for an apt comparison), ending with a meetup with Princess Sally (possibly outside of a midway checkpoint rendezvous location or a pathway leading to another level), but fans who only view Sonic as a reckless blue steak who just storms through game stages called zones meanwhile taking unprotected hits from badnik henchmen are players simply failing to recognize nor actively care about the timing & strategy aspects of the games, alongside Sonic himself as a character oftentimes not thinking far enough ahead (which, admittedly, is all true, however, thoughtlessly running headlong into trouble is a known flaw of Sonic's core character, which is exactly the reason why he's needs more grounded, mindful characters like Princess Sally to essentially do the preplanning & strategic maneuvers for him as the "brains of the operation/outfit" to matchup with his heroic brawn).
