Man, childhood me was stubborn back in the 90's when I wanted to beat Sonic games. Like everyone who was a Sonic fan back then, I beat this game. It was hard, no guides, nothing. Just me and the struggles. I really don't blame anyone with the technology we have today using rewind or save states with games like these. Also really like the use of most of these Sonic Spinball remixes. This video was fun to watch. Congrats Callie for finally beating Sonic Spinball.

What are you talking about? Levels 1-3 are fairly easy. It's just level 4 that's a pain. 4 out of 5 of the emeralds aren't so bad, but the one in the starting room is just the worst.

I used to watch my older brother beat this game, but when it released on Nintendo Online, I just had to beat it myself. After countless attempts of dying on Showdown, I finally beat it. I actually like it a lot more now that I played it more. I also love the bumper sound effect like the one in the title screen, I wish more people used it as a sound effect.

​@@CallieMacNyou're not wrong on the electricity level that's what everyone's that's what everyone's calling that and the fart of where the animals turn into robots yeah you're not wrong does look pretty morbid and dark but that's how the game designers created it I guess and if you think this game is crazy and difficult try Chrome hounds that game is on a different level in that game and the best part you get to create your own death machine and yes you can put different weapons as many as you want and it gives you unbelievably powerful weapons they could destroy an entire civilization in less than a few hours but the only way to earn them is by from the campaign your friend can even join with you on the online co-op but it'll take you to a different story

I loved this game as a kid. The controls weirdness can be mitigated by changing which button triggers *both* flippers at once. Pick whichever one feels more natural to you, and just use that one button for the flippers. You can find this in the options. I also set speed to fast, too.

My most vivid memory of Sonic Spinball is from Sonic Mega Collection where you had to open and close the game a bunch to unlock Flicky and Sonic 2 & Knuckles. However, the funniest thing about the game is that in Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, if you go into the section where it tells you facts about it, _the game itself_ will point out how ridiculous the whole concept is.

I got this game for Christmas when I was a kid. Had fond Christmas morning memories of this game. I got to the final level and after many failures I beat the game. It was also one of the few if only game that had the Saturday Sonic cartoon characters freedom fighters in it during a mini game.

I can't tell if anyone really knows this, but the options music was never meant to sound like that. It's a programming bug that they overlooked and never thought to fix in future ports of the game. There are restored versions online

So here's a fun thing the game never tells you, that I learnt by accident. You can still controll sonic in his pinball state and it sorta tilts him left or right. This has zero consequence and makes this game FAR less frustrating since you have at least SOME control over the ball.

You probably already know this, but the title screen music was originally a remix of the Sonic 1 theme, but right before the game shipped, someone at Sega told composer Howard Drossin "hey, uh, you know we don't own that music, right". Drossin says that writing the new theme for the game, from start to finish, took him about four hours.

Ah yes, the most unapologetic of sonic spinoffs, and one of the few official games in the series you can reliably break the physics by going too fast wherever you want. But also from the era where the manuals where miniature physical books that actually explained some mechanics and fleshed out the story, man those were the days. Though between the janky default controls and faulty buttons, I'd blame the terrible inputs on the xbox controller first lol. Sadly one of the last times Robotnik was a blatant and successful villain, before he got rebranded as the incompetent eggman. It was cathartic seeing the difference between old school and modern gamers though, makes me wonder if anyone's heard of the arcade port of Viewpoint, but that's another horror story.
