My only problem with the game (and why I passed on it) is because it’s a full price game. (90 AUD, don’t know what that is in USD) and I think that’s a total ripoff. If it was priced the same as sonic mania plus, then I would’ve brought it.

In my opinion, juns songs were almost never terrible, the sonic fanbase just relates those synths with a bad memory (sonic 4) Let me put an example: a certain time we bought a certain brand of milk on my house, not the best but not the worst. However, when i tried that milk, for whatever reason i puked. Now when i see that milk, even if it's not bad, i not particulary fond of it because i relate it with a bad memory, and i think that's what happens when jun arranges classic sonic music.

@aquaponieee I honestly enjoyed the bosses in the main campaign. People don't like the waiting but I liked how they were actually a challenge I couldn't blitz in 30 seconds like other Sonic games. Once I got to Trip's story however, the waiting started to jar on me more because of how much harder the attacks became to dodge. Then I got to the final two bosses in the whole game and it's a miracle nothing or no one got destroyed in my actual house with how bad I was fuming.

Actually, considering the bosses have invincibility frames, I think it's more to keep you from exploiting all the chaos emerald abilities to cheese through them.

Just rolled credits. Played through the whole game with my two brothers, and while I love that we lifelong Sonic fans got to experience it together, it was BUGGY AS HECK with so many characters competing for the camera. Still, it was a total riot. Wish it had online co-opz

I really like how Superstars turned out overall, but if there is a weak point, it's the bosses. One of the great things about the bosses at the end of the Zones in the classic Sonic games, is that they were challenging at first, but once you knew what you were doing you could beat them quickly. Thus keeping the pace and momentum going. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the idea of more extravagant boss battles, but in Superstars there's often a great deal of waiting around and not being able to attack. I think that if they were going to take this approach, the devs should have relegated bosses to their own distinct act. That way, you can still play through the zones, and fight the bosses if and when you feel like it.

I have a great player one experience playing this game but my co-op gameplay was it's not at. This game was advertised to be multiplayer but it make me feel not fun how the camera focus is. This is similar to Super Mario Wonder as well and couldn't compare for the. Both games are fantastic as a 1 player.

Trip's Story is really frustrating when it comes to the level as there are spikes, traps and enemies everywhere. The final boss fight is even worse because if you fall into a pit or touch a laser it instantly kills you and you have to start over (IT DOESN'T EVEN AUTO SAVE WHEN YOU GET TO PHASE 2! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!). I'm playing the PS5 version and I still haven't beaten the final boss. Wish me luck guys. 😢

I feel like it's necessary to mention that Sonic games have had boss fights that take a lot of hits and you have to wait for an opening to attack once. Not many but there were a few.

You're right, but this is a Classic Sonic game. All the bosses are meant to be cheesed in some shape or way (except the final boss, of course...and even then there are exceptions, i.e. Death Egg Robot in Sonic 2).

"None are horrible" In all fairness, I think Fang's "boss" theme in Speed Jungle Act Sonic IS in fact the only horrible track. I get what Jun was going for but... yeah, no, it just... doesn't work with Sonic 4's soundfont. I'm terribly sorry, but in my opinion, and for this particular track, he tried his best, but he failed lamentably. Still, he DID try making some genuinely good music, like Press Factory Act 1. And although the soundtrack IS indeed hit or miss, the game itself looks genuinely good despite its flaws. They're a little confused, but they've got the spirit, and it's still better than Sonic 4.

@@Hugo-yz1vbthis boss is not that hard per se, it's just that most of its attack are instakill so one minor slip up and you're screwed, you have to wait a realllly long time between attacks to get a chance to deal damage and the boss has an insane amount of health, and it's hard to consistently dodge the attacks since they're kinda random, so this boss will take up hours of playtime and is an unfair difficulty spike. just plain boring, unfun and frustrating. the bosses overall are simply just super paper mario bosses, wait a really long time and then hit it when the game gives you the chance, they're not hard (some give you bottomless pits and stuff like that), some bosses are ok whilst others are just eww like that fang boss. they did this 1. to add additional hours to the total gametime so they could price the game $60 and 2. because of the multiplayer coop, which made the singleplayer experience significantly worse. (you also have to replay the entire game in singleplayer for the trip story, soo)

i'm surprised everyone thinks this way, as a fan of the classics as well, literally superstars was better than sonic 3 & knuckles + sonic mania, heck, than ALL the classic games combined in my opinion, but then again, considering i am horrible at not getting hit every 2 seconds, that's probably why i never noticed the jump in difficulty, and then there's also the fang final boss, jesus christ i am not finished with that boss as i'm writing this, personally i think the entire game was great except the fang final boss, but luckily fang's fight is optional after i beat it and then i am able to complete the game and enjoy it afterwards

I have a theory as to why Classic Amy can spin, but not Modern Amy. Classic Amy uses a skirt tutu thing, which is very flexible, but Modern Amy's dress is much more stiff, meaning the bottom of her dress wrinkle up or flatout stop her from spinning.

Yikes... saying this game even comes close to the classics is certainly... something. The level design is bland, the music is mid, the bosses are incredibly boring and stretched out and the visuals don't come close to the 2D pixel look. But hey to each their own.
