Tails' parents were never explained (or maybe they were, but I don't read comics). It's always said that he was alone and picked on by others because of his two tails. It wasn't till he encountered Sonic on the South Island that he started following him on his adventures and they became friends and partners.

Facts, Sonic would not have been able tog get to sky base zone without him, at least not as easily as he did, and how would likely have died from falling from the death egg, he wouldn’t have been able to beat the boss of Marble Garden Zone’s second act, Amy would have gotten killed by Eggman in SA2, sonic would not be able to understand the wisps, A shit ton of things would either end differently or wouldn’t happen at all if Tails never met Sonic
