2:14 from what I gathered this is an alternate universe where the land below once called earth is a desolate wasteland while the land above is inhabited by amphromals (what I call the humanoid animal characters) and humans Robotnik seems to have already conquered the land below and is calling it Eggmanland (in the Japanese version atleast also this predates unleashed)
