Everything about sonic 2 is iconic to sonic fans and even people who grew up knowing about sonic: the ost, the levels, the frustrating moments, the final boss, the 7 chaos emeralds, the ending. The fact that this was completed in under a year makes this one of the biggest success stories in gaming and makes this game one of the best games to release at all.

I can't tell you how awesome it was in the 90's as a kid to have a handheld Game Gear with this game. The color screen was amazing and I could lay in bed in the dark and enjoy playing it. Those were great times.

As a child i became emotional when i first saw the ending, I thought, "Did sonic not make it out in time?"...Yet Mile's who saw the explosion, still had hope that his friend was alive, and decided to fly out. When he caught him falling to the earth, i teared up out of joy. This game gripped me as a kid. The music, the flashy colors and graphics, such good memories. :)

Back when I was 7 years old, I am 22 now. I still remember going to this daycare almost everyday of the summer. They had a Sega genesis just lying on the ground that nobody would play. So I hopped on that Sega Genesis, and I literally had so much fun with it, I would always get excited to play that Sega genesis every time I went there to play Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I was the only kid in that daycare that played that game. That was the first time I ever played a Sega genesis, man..So many good memories :)

Kids today will never know how exciting these early mega drive games were back in the early nineties. No cellphone's back then and a lot of people didn't have internet or computers. It was great entertainment for a rainy day. Glad to have been there. Can't believe it was all nearly 30 years ago!.

I'm from England, my cousin who had this game lived in Tasmania. He had this game and when I think about my holiday to Australia and Tasmania coming to see him and his family in 2008, this game comes up. I admired it. I miss those teenage days. My other cousin was getting married, which was why we were going there. We stayed for a couple of weeks. This game made up a huge part of it. I mean, I never finished the game, but... ...those memories do help. I'd do anything to return to Tasmania and revisit this gaming experience there, for even just a holiday.

Only way to play is on og hardware. Emulators and classic collections have input lag and bugs. Game was made with the og controls in mind.
