I was 2 when Ocarina of Time came out. I believe that my first memory of playing a video game was Super Mario Bros Deluxe on the Game Boy Color. Sonic fans drive me insane with that whole Dr Robotnik and Dr Eggman shit. some people say they should've kept the Robotnik name and some think they are too different characters (which only applies to the early Archie Comics and the cartoons) I've never seen people argue about Bowser and King Koopa, Princess Peach and Princess Toadstool or Rosalina and Rozetta being two different characters based on their names.

2/3 of your examples are localization differences whereas in all parts of the world, Hes called Robotnik in the old games (up until SA1 I believe) and eventually became Eggman. Imo, he should be named Robotnik and Eggman should've just been a dumb nickname sonic and co give him.

Sonic Adventure was the last time he called himself Robotnik. SA2 onwards it was Eggman. But there's also the fact that his late Grandfather and late Cousin had Robotnik as their last name.
